Winfield Area Chamber of Commerce
Keeping You Informed!

The Winfield Area Chamber of Commerce is a local chamber without ties to either the Kansas or the U.S. Chambers of Commerce.  We believe that being independent allows us the best opportunity to serve our members with an unbiased approach to issues that are important to the local communities where we serve.

Winfield Main Street Flower Basket Sales

Flower baskets ordered through the Winfield Main Street Committee at the Winfield Area Chamber of Commerce will be ready for pick-up Monday through Wednesday, May 7-9, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM at the Marquee Performing Arts Center, 1007 Main St. The committee would like to have all the flowers picked up by 4:00 PM on Wednesday but will be available on Thursday for anyone that absolutely cannot make it earlier in the week. Orders that have not yet been paid for can pay at pick-up with cash or a check written out to the Winfield Area Chamber of Commerce.

Money raised from this fundraiser is used in Winfield Main Street mini-grants that help businesses purchase signage or spruce up their storefront to keep Winfield's downtown district vibrant and beautiful.

Cowley House of Hope Survey

The Cowley House of Hope is conducting a survey to determine the number of homeless individuals in the area, beginning May 1, 2018 and running through June 1, 2018. The Housing & Urban Development (HUD) office defines homelessness in the following 4 Categories:
  • Is the individual or family living in a public or private place not meant for habitation;
  • Are there families living together in spaces causing overcrowding (Example: Ten individuals living in a two bedroom home);
  • Is there an imminent risk of homelessness;
  • Are there children involved;
  • Are there individuals fleeing domestic violence.
  • Couch surfers (This is not an official HUD definition, but should be counted)
When the discussion of a homeless shelter first began in January 2017, we determined the
number of homelessness to be around 150 and suspected the number to be higher. As we begin the process to educate and reconstruct the understanding of homelessness it will be imperative to provide accurate and timely information.
We don't need names or any personal information so there will no doubt be some overlap; all we're looking for is a snapshot to see if the number has moved since 2017. You can email me the results weekly or whatever is easiest for you. My email address is winfieldhousing1417@gmail.com
