During the past few months there have been many discussions and disclosures about sexual harassment and assault by those with privilege and power. Power and privilege have silenced and shamed many people for years. It has left survivors with shame and humiliation that they do not deserve nor hold any responsibility.
2018 rings in a new day, and the covers have been pulled back. As painful as it is to hear, this behavior has been continuing for generations and silenced far too many for way too long. Exposing the problem and holding the perpetrators accountable is one step closer to prevention.
This type of violence - and it is violence - is preventable. Having our communities locally and globally coming together to say
No More
is now upon us! The ability for people like Harvey Weinstein to hide in the shadows of wealth and power is coming closer to an end! Each of us can do our part. We can stand up when others are at risk and say out loud clearly this will not be tolerated.
We hope you will join us this year and resolve to be Upstanders in our community to bring social justice, hope, and healing to survivors, and end the cycle of violence once and for all.
