Diary of a Middle School Kid

Kinsey is a 6th grader at Hadley.

If everyone under age 18 could vote, Kinsey believes that the world would be different because the younger voters would all be influenced by their parents. And she believes that a world full of Kinsey clones would also certainly be different, because no one would be unique!

One of Kinsey's favorite movies is Wonder, which tells the inspirational story of a boy with facial differences. She could watch it over and over!

For all of the Harry Potter fans out there, Kinsey recommends Keeper of the Lost Cities.

Someday, she would like to learn French, travel to the Cayman Islands, and maybe even open a bakery.

New Book Spotlight

Confusion is Nothing New by Paul Acampora
Ellie Magari is figuring out what it means to be a girl in the world today, especially when the one role model she could have had (her mother) was never around and she was raised by her hardworking single father who didn't exactly keep the lines of communication open. Exactly who was Ellie's mom? And now that she's gone forever, what does that mean for Ellie?

Fueled by the bighearted sounds of '80s rock and roll, plus large doses of Cyndi Lauper's girl-power joy, Confusion is Nothing New is a coming-of-age story about friendship, girls, and the tension between fathers and daughters. It's also a story about girls who understand that it's good to make things, but breaking things is okay too.

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
My name is Gabby, and I'm a 7th grader at St. James. I liked The Hunger Games, because it keeps you guessing. The ending isn't predictable in the sense that you don't know who might die. You think one person is safe until...

The Hunger Games also kept me interested throughout the book and I encourage others to read it. Others who have read Harry Potter would enjoy this, and I give it five stars.
