Looking for a new home, new condominium or new townhome in Forsyth or Hall County? This overview of Forsyth and Hall County should help.

Forsyth and Hall County are in the northeast corner of Metropolitan Atlanta, and borders the Lake Lanier on the West and East, respectively. Forsyth includes the city of Cumming, and some Forsyth county zip codes also include parts of Suwanee, Alpharetta and Gainesville. Forsyth was established in 1832 and is named for John Forsyth, the governor of Georgia from 1827-29. In 2008 Forsyth County was one of the top ten fastest growing counties in America. That makes for a boom of new home construction in Forsyth.

Forsyth lies along the limited access, Interstate-spec GA 400/Highway 19, which reaches from the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains directly into the city of Atlanta. Forsyth is one of the most active, fastest growing, most prosperous areas of metro Atlanta, so traffic along GA 400 can be quite heavy, particularly at rush hours.

The dominant feature of Forsyth is Lake Lanier, a man-made reservoir created in 1956 by the construction of the Buford Dam blocking the Chattahoochee River. At the time it was built, the Buford Dam was one of the largest earthen damns in the world. Lake Lanier is maintained by the United States Army Corps of Engineers. The Lake, which primarily borders Forsyth on the west and Hall County on the East, covers 37,000 acres. It is visited by more than 7 million people annually and is one of the most popular recreational facilities in the entire region. Thirty percent of the shoreline of Lake Lanier is in Forsyth County. In addition to Lake Lanier, more than a dozen golf courses are within just ten miles of Cumming. With such amazing outdoor amenities nearby, can you see why so many people search for Forsyth County new homes, townhomes, and condos?
