How you've helped your neighbors in need on their road to self-sufficiency.
Helping through a desperate time

About a month ago, there was a fire at a local homeless shelter for woman and their children. One of our clients, Carla*, a single woman with four children, was fleeing a domestic violence case and staying there when the fire happened, putting her in an even more desperate state.

Carla had signed up for our Adopt-a-Family holiday gift program, and luckily the fire happened before the gifts were given out. So she was still able to provide her children with a happy holiday thanks to a generous donor.

Also, since she had lost everything, we were able to help her with emergency Food Pantry visits. Her school aged children were also able to access the Kids Weekend Food programs that we provide through the public schools to ensure they had enough food while school was out.

Carla, who now literally has nothing, has been able to meet the needs of her family, because Beverly Bootstraps was able to help in such concrete ways. And that is only possible because of the concrete ways you, our donors, help us. Thank you from both of us!

Thank you to our community

Over time, most of us realize that giving is as rewarding to us as it is good for the recipient. Whether gathering around the table to share love and joy at a holiday dinner with friends or family, or getting to watch a child’s face brighten as they open their favorite gift, we know that it feels great to make others happy or to fulfill another person's need.

It is hard to take a moment to acknowledge the reward of giving in the hustle and bustle of the holiday season. It’s also easy to forget that there are so many out there that aren’t able to enjoy the holiday season because of their tenuous financial situations. So many of you did not forget. This community has once again come together to support those in need in so many ways. From donations of food, holiday gifts, turkeys, books and money, to people’s time, we thank all the businesses, families, individuals, teams, schools, children, churches and other organizations that made this holiday season at Beverly Bootstraps possible.

Thank you for remembering those in need. They are grateful for your generosity and we hope you feel the warm reward of giving.
