Principal's Message
Dear Parents and Families,

The Student of the Month character trait we are highlighting this month is "effort". Students will be recognized at the end of the month, January 30th.

TK/K registration opens this week. Please look at the school website for more details.

We love having our parents on campus volunteering in classrooms, helping on field trips and watching special programs and events we have. In order to have volunteers on campus we need all adults who want to volunteer on the campus use our SRVUSD Volunteer Management System to have the appropriate level of clearance.

ALL adult volunteers will need to go through this process. The District will NOT be asking parents to incur any of the costs associated with these clearance processes. Visit the SRVUSD Volunteer Webpage, for more information and to begin the application process.

Please help us by completing the appropriate steps needed. We do not want to turn parents away from helping or watching your student(s). However, if you are not cleared we cannot have you on our campus. Remember Valentine's Day is Thursday, February 14th and teachers will be looking for parent volunteers to help in class. Our Spelling Bee final school round is Wednesday, February 13th. Parents must be cleared to watch their student. Please plan accordingly and work on your volunteer clearance. Thank you!

Have a great week! Nadine

"The Self-Driven Child"
March Parenting Speaker Event
Save the Date - March 14
San Ramon Valley Council of PTAs is pleased to sponsor the authors of The Self-Driven Child, Dr. William Stixrud, Ph.D. and Ned Johnson, for our March Parenting Speaker event! In their book, The Self-Driven Child, the two offer a combination of cutting-edge brain science, the latest discoveries in behavioral therapy, and case studies drawn from the thousands of kids and teens Bill and Ned have helped over the years to teach you how to set your child on the real road to success. As parents, we can only drive our kids so far. At some point, they will have to take the wheel and map out their own path. But there is a lot you can do before then to help them tackle the road ahead with resilience and imagination.

The Self-Driven Child, a  discussion & book signing by William Stixrud & Ned Johnson

By-Trustee Area Information
Public Hearing
January 24, 7pm
On Thursday, January 24, following a presentation, the San Ramon Valley Unified School District Board of Education will hold the first of two statutorily required public hearings to receive community input on proposed trustee-area maps, pursuant to Elections Code section 10010, subdivision (a)(2). The meeting will be held at 7 pm in the Boardroom of the SRVUSD Education Center at 699 Old Orchard Drive, Danville.

The San Ramon Valley Unif ied School District's Board of Education is currently elected under an "at-large" election system, where trustees are elected by voters of the entire District. On December 11, 2018, the Board adopted Resolution #48-18/19, declaring its intent to transition from at-large to by-trustee area board elections, where each board member must reside within the designated trustee area boundary, and is elected only by the voters in that trustee area.

On January 8, 2019, after two public hearings to gather community input on the trustee-area map creation process, the Board adopted Resolution #51-18/19, establishing the criteria to guide the District's demographers in preparing draft trustee area boundary maps.
On January 16, 2019, the District published two proposed trustee area maps on the its website. The public is welcomed and encouraged to attend the meeting to give feedback on the proposed maps.
School ADA - Did You Know?
Does the fresh powder beckon you?

As we approach the President's Day Holiday Weekend in February and Spring Break in March, we want to take a moment to ask you to consider the impact that attendance has on both your student's success and on the District, as a whole.

While we hope you will not extend the holiday beyond the already planned days off, if you are planning to extend your holiday, please consider attending at least a partial day when school is in session. Partial day attendance ensures that your student will not fall behind on assignments and that the District will receive the ADA for that day.

Thank you for your consideration.
