GRAD NIGHT RAFFLE PRIZES NEEDED.   Part of the fun for graduates at the all night Grad Night party is...RAFFLE PRIZES!  How can you help? Please consider donating gift cards (any value) or cash (we'll shop for you!). Ideas/Suggestions:  Future Freshman Necessities Target, Bed Bath & Beyond  Feed 'Em Freshman Restaurants - Subway, Starbucks, Qdoba, Chipotle, Red Robin   Freshen Up Freshman Ulta, In Spa, Sportclips, Rudy's, Gene Juarez

WISHING YOU WERE GOING TO GRAD NIGHT?   The ticket purchase deadline has passed, but we do still have some room on the buses. If you would like to purchase a ticket before the bus sign-ups on May 14th you may do so by going to  redmondhsptsa.org  on the Grads-->Grad Night page or by picking up an order form in the RHS front office.  Need help with the ticket cost? We still have scholarships available - just check with your counselor or contact  [email protected] . We would love to fill the buses and have as many seniors with us as want to go!
 
GRAD NIGHT BUS SIGN-UPS!   On May 14th, 17th, and 22nd PTSA representatives will be in the cafeteria during lunch to help seniors sign-up for the Grad Night party buses. Only seniors who have purchased their ticket and turned in their signed release form will be allowed to sign-up. E-mails with the release form were sent to the parents of all seniors who purchased tickets. If you can't find that e-mail, the release form can also be found at  redmondhsptsa.org  on the Grads-->Grad Night page. This form can be turned into the front office at RHS. We will have 50 seniors per bus so make sure to get your paperwork done so you can sign up with your friends and ensure that you are all on the same bus.

BACCALAUREATE AUDITIONS   Want to contribute to this inspiring event? We are looking for emcees, musicians, speakers, flag bearers, dancers, artists of all kinds to participate. Pick up an application in the front office or ask one of the music & art teachers when you are in class. Applications can be turned in at the front office and are due by May 18th. Auditions will be May 21-24 in the choir/orchestra room after school by appointment. Baccalaureate is Friday, June 15th at 7PM in the RHS Gym. Questions? Email us at  [email protected]

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!  HELP PAY IT FORWARD:  The PTSA 2018 Baccalaureate Committee needs your help!  The Senior Baccalaureate ceremony honoring our graduates is set for Friday, June 15th.  We are looking for people who would like to donate food for this wonderful event.  Please sign up using the following link here: Thanks for supporting our seniors!

School News
SBA & WCAS TESTING IN MAY. 5/21-5/25. During the week of May 21-25, 2018 Redmond High School will have all 10th and 11th grade students participating in state required testing. To prepare for testing students will need to have a functioning school issued laptop, charger, and headphones. The school bell schedule will be altered during testing week. On test days, non-testers will have a late start with school starting at 10 am. Testers will start at the regular 7:30 am time.  More details to come as we get closer to testing. 
 
RHS 2018-2019 SCHOOL DAY SCHEDULE. LWSD has announced that school start and end times will be changing in the 2018-19 school year.  In the Fall at Redmond High School, a 7-period day will be implemented and the end-of-day will be extended by twenty minutes. In order to ensure that families have ample time to plan, here is our RHS Bell Schedule for the 2018-2019 7-period school day.

DRAMA BOOSTERS.  SUPPORTING RHS THEATRE ARTS.
Redmond Drama is going to Ashland, Oregon! RHS Drama will be attending the Oregon Shakespeare Festival May 24-27th in Ashland, Oregon! This is an amazing opportunity to experience world class theatre. Trip includes bus transportation, hotel, meals, and tickets to see Shaekspeare, Jane Austen, and the world premiere of "Manahatta." Extracurricular Activities
JOIN REDMOND POLICE LAW ENFORCEMENT EXPLORING. Redmond High School students, in 9th grade - 12th grade, are invited to join Redmond Police Exploring. Law Enforcement Exploring is a national co-ed career education program for youth in 9th grade -20 years old. Mentor with Redmond Police Officers and participate in activities with other youth interested in a career in Criminal Justice or Law Enforcement. Meetings are 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month: 7pm, Redmond Police: 8701 160th Ave NE. For additional Information, contact Redmond Police Officer Kevin Kaptur at 425-556-2500.

FIT FACTORY FOR TEEN GIRLS   Building a community of support by teaching young girls to be healthy, confident, and a sense of teamwork through exercise.  Circuit style training that will vary from week to week.  Mondays starting May 7 at the Redmond Community Center at Marymoor Village from 7p-8p.  Get access to this class, other group fitness exercise classes, and a drop-in fitness facility through the Flex Fit Pass.  Register for the monthly pass, 10 day pass, or drop-in.  Participants under 18 must have a medical waiver filled out and given to the instructor.  www.redmond.gov/flexfit .  
 
TEEN OPEN GYM BASKETBALL   Open gym space at Redmond Middle School gym for teenagers 6th grade and up to shoot around and play some pickup basketball games.  Starting May 3, every Thursday through June 7, except May 17 from 6:15p-8:15p.  Register at https://apm.activecommunities.com/redmondparksandrec/Activity_Search/12012 .

THE COLLEGE & CAREER CENTER JOB BOARD  The College & Career Center Job Board on PSL is on FIRE!!!!  Many new positions available for summer employment!!  Just go to your PSL page - you will find us under the "extras" tab.

STUDENTS:  Will you be participating in a summer activity or looking for an internship or job next year?  Students can get a FREE fully loaded transit fare card (ORCA card) to get around all summer for FREE!  This means the card and the rides are both FREE!  Only students who qualify for free and reduced lunch and are looking for a job, internship or other extracurricular project for summer of 2018 are eligible for the program.  Stop in the College and Career Center to pick up a flyer!

BATTERY CHARGING STATION . Is your battery running low?  Have no fear!  Plug in at the new charging station in the College & Career Center (Room E111). No more need to sit on the floor in the hallway! Our new device charging station is equipped with both plugs and USB ports - Stop in and take a look!

GRAD NIGHT CHAPERONES NEEDED   The Senior Class of 2018 is in need of 20 volunteers for the all-night Grad Night.  Why? - Because we like you and our students!  To ensure the safety of students, chaperones are REQUIRED.  When? - Monday, June 18, 10pm, chaperones leave RHS on buses with students to secret all night venues.  We arrive back at RHS around 6am, Tuesday, June 19.  Food, coffee, and FUN is provided - FREE.   Who? - Chaperones can be freshman, sophomore, junior or senior parents. Underclass parents, here's a chance to pay it forward, step up, and join the party!  In other words, volunteers are not just senior parents. CITY OF REDMOND TEEN PROGRAM.
Calling all funny Mustangs!  The Old Fire House is holding our annual "Laugh On" Comedy Night, Friday May 18th. We're seeking comics and improv artists, from first-timers to seasoned professionals, for a short (2 to 5 minute) comedy set. Hosted by Mr. Noteboom, "Laugh On" is a low-pressure, lighthearted event. SUMMER ACT & SAT PREP  Looking to get a head start on preparing for your ACTs and SATs? SAT Prep is offering classes and practice tests at many locations over the summer! If you're interested, their locations and enrollment information can be found here.

COLLEGE PLANNING CLASSES at 7pm on May 9th at Kenmore Library  This information packed class will focus on high school juniors and will address the following:  Helping students decide which colleges to apply to.  What the more selective colleges really want to see in your student's application.  Why standardized tests are important and which one to take; the SAT/ACT.  How to maximize your student's potential to receive scholarships, grants, and other forms of gift-aid.  Illustrate to families how to attend a PRIVATE COLLEGE for a Public College Price. VISUAL ARTS WORKSHOP: Great opportunity for students interested in expressing themselves and capturing the world around them! The City of Redmond is offering an all week visual arts workshop July 23rd-27th. Morning classes focus on digital photography and afternoons on digital moving making.
