Finally, I would like to express a special "Thank You" to our Tiger parents who attended our ROAR Pep Rally last week Friday, January 11th. Mr. Freddie Figgers is a computer engineer inventor and he shared his childhood experiences and success stories with our students in the third, fourth, and fifth grades. He motivated and encouraged our students to BELIEVE in themselves and find what interests them - to move forward in fulfilling their dreams and ambitions. Mr. Figgers also inspired our students to stay focused and study hard in order to be successful both academically and behaviorally.

Teacher Spotlight
Ms. Davis, 3rd Grade

Q: How long have you been a teacher?  How long at TPES?
A: I have had my own classroom since 2004 and I have been an OCPS teacher for about 6 years. Many of my years of teaching were done overseas. I lived in China and Vietnam. I've taught 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th grades. My favorite grade is the one I am teaching this year.  I love 3rd grade!

Q: Where did you graduate from college?
A: I graduated from Nazareth College in Rochester, NY. We used to call it "The Nunnery" because once upon a time, all of the professors were either nuns or priests.

Q: What do you enjoy most about being an educator?
A: The best part of being an educator is interacting with children in a meaningful and lasting way. Watching young minds open up to new things and encouraging creativity makes me very happy!

Q: What book is your favorite book?
A: My favorite book of all time is Their Eyes Are Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston. I read it at least once every year.

Q: Hobbies, interests?
A: My favorite thing to do is READ! I also love to travel, make art and go to the beach!  Libraries are among my most favorite places on earth! I visited a library in China that had books that were chiseled in stone almost 4,000 years ago! It was amazing!
