New Writing Business at Hayshire Elementary School
by Morgan and Kylynn, grade 3

It all started with two nine-year old girls in Mrs. Hyman's third grade class named Kylynn and Morgan. They enjoy writing stories and wanted to make it go viral in their classrooms. So...Kylynn and Morgan went up to Mrs. Hyman and Kylynn said, "We are going to start a writing business." Then, when they were out at recess Morgan said, "Let's call it K and M's Inc." Kylynn agreed. That is where it all started! Morgan's first book is called, Super Unicorn Women." Kylynn's first books is Super Dog! They are still writing and have a really full list of books they need to write!

Recorder Karate
by Brooklyn, grade 3
I like recorder karate because I like to get challenged and practice at home. I love to compete and help others get their belts. So how recorder karate works is you get a recorder in third grade. You test to get belts, and the white belt is first and then second you get yellow, and then orange, green, purple, blue, red, brown, and black. The belts get harder as you go. I think recorder karate is challenging for some people and amazing for others!

Important Advice from Mrs. Zimmerman's Class
The most important person at Hayshire Elementary is YOU! Quality work is an important part of being a Hayshire student. When you work hard, your teachers are proud of your work and you accomplish your goal. If you put your best into everything you do, you will succeed. Another part of being a Hayshire student is being responsible. Following the rules even when no one is watching is important because it keeps everyone safe and out of trouble. Listen to the person who is talking to keep them in the Green Circle and because everyone at Hayshire is important. The last part of being a good Hayshire student is to just be yourself! If you show sharing, caring, and respect, you will always have friends. People will want to be around you if you are kind and show Green Circle behavior. Being helpful and standing up for others is a way to show you are a good Hayshire student. This is all the advice you need to be an important Hayshire student.

Our families like the Green Circle too!!!!

Augmented Reality Map by Jacob Birmingham, grade 2
The Hayshire Augmented Reality Map is a tool that new students use to learn about Hayshire. Last year Mrs. Zimmerman's and Mrs. McNamara's students wrote articles about many important people, places, and things at Hayshire. We also took pictures and videos of the people of places and things. Mrs. Musone helped us put that info into the Blippar app. Now people can use Blippar to learn about our school. Open up the Blippar app and scan the Hayshire AR Map. Then tap one of paw prints to read the article. Hayshire Ambassadors use the map to show new students around Hayshire. Hayshire Ambassadors are like tour guides.

We Love STEM! by Calise Miller, grade 2
(STEM = science, technology, engineering, and math activities)
Have you ever made a pollen collector?  We made one for our Stem project.  Here is how you make one.  First, you are going to need cotton balls, tape, utensils, rubber bands, a paper flower, and kool aid mix.
Next, you will use the cotton balls, spoons, and tape to make the pollen collector.  You might need to use the rubber bands to hold the spoons together.  Then, try it out.  Use your pollen collector to collect the pollen and transfer it on to the flower.  Bees, butterflies, bats, and moths are all pollen collectors.  Now you know how to make a pollen collector.

Take a look at a project from the Blue Vertical Team.....
