Love is never defeated, and I could add,

the history of  Ireland proves it.

My life was very unstable for the past four or five years. I was drinking days at a time, and living with family and friends. I was jumping from one job to the next, trying to make a living but my drinking kept getting in the way.

While at a treatment facility in Berrien Springs, I heard about The Salvation Army - Adult Rehabilitation Center (ARC). The treatment facility made all the arrangements for me to go to the ARC and left the decision to go up to me. So, I choose to give it a shot anything would be better than couch surfing and falling back into drinking.

I have been spending my work therapy here at the ARC as a janitor, and enjoy setting a pace and daily routine to get the job done. I feel that, with the help of God and the ARC, I have a handle on my life again. Something I haven't felt in a very long time. I am really excited about the future and what it holds for me being sober. I hope to spend some time on the golf course and getting my feet back on the ground with a career in human service.

Linda's 25 years of service

After 25 years of service, Linda from the Division location in Grand Rapids has retired. She has worked in several areas, but is known for running the collectibles. With her prior experience working in antiques stores, she truly helped us in "Doing the Most Good". Stories were told at her retirement party about the good times with the staff and beneficiaries here at the ARC, including stories of rubber snakes. Linda's gift and smile will be missed, and we would like to send her into retirement with our blessing.

Thank you for your 25 years of service. ~  ARC staff
