FROM RACHEL YATES, PRESBYTERY EXECUTIVE

TAKING OUR BLINDERS OFF
Reconciliation, our theme for the year, starts with us recognizing where we have hurt others. Until we've seen the resentment or pain we've caused, we're unable to repent or to seek forgiveness.
You would think that identifying how we've hurt people would be easy enough. I suspect that most of us go through the day trying to be respectful and kind. We act charitably toward others. In our ministries, we try to be hospitable and welcoming. Sure, we might annoy people with our driving or by cheering for the wrong team, but those are minor offenses.
So, we should be able to count on one hand the number of times we've .

PRESBYTERIAN FOUNDATION OFFERING WEBINARS

This pastor
pastor has a history of hob-knobbing with the stars. This pastor has:
- met the lead singer of the Grateful Dead,
- solicited in-person donations from Jimmy Buffet,
- received a personal phone call and invitation from Oprah Winfrey after critiquing one of Oprah's recommended books,
- and gone to the movies with Ashley Judd to preview Ashley's film Where the Heart Is.
This is Cathy Manthei, pastor at Apostle Presbyterian in West Allis.
"
I met many "celebrities" while working with the sheriff's office at Alpine Valley Music Theatre. Jimmy Buffett invested in a program for kids who had been affected by domestic violence; Jerry Garcia from the Grateful Dead was an incredibly kind man ( at least in the 5 minutes I was with him). I emailed Oprah that I didn't like her book choice (Tawnie O'Dell's BACK ROADS) which prompted Oprah to call me to offer two days in Chicago that featured Ms. O'Dell and going to the movie WHERE THE HEART IS with Ashley Judd. God has blessed me so often!!!
"
No one guessed correctly, but thanks to all those who played!

********************************
WHO IS THIS?
This week's mystery pastor spent the turn of the millennium (midnight Jan. 1, 2000) roaming the streets of Little Havana in Miami.
Can you guess who this is?
Send your guess to
Chris Halverson
and the first person to guess correctly will be recognized next week and receive a free dinner at the next presbytery meeting!
