Lo and Behold! Its March already! Am I the only one still getting ready for the New Year?

The Executive Board and Conference Committee are working hard at preparing for the annual Educational Conference, which takes place at the South Point Hotel in Las Vegas, July 19-22. We are always looking for volunteers to get involved. The more ideas the better! This is YOUR conference! Tell us what you think!

Remember that this year is SPECIAL. This year the Executive Board positions are open. We need to vote in a new President , Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. I encourage you to reach out to someone from the Board and talk with them about what it takes to be part of the team. No experience is required. The only requirement is a belief that ADOMA is a valuable resource for the people in our industry; along with interest in making a contribution. It does not take as much time as you may think; only one weekend per month. It does not matter how much time you have on the job, or how long you have been in the industry. In fact, I would have to say that if you think you don't have the background or the experience to be on the board, then you are probably the best candidate! What is that they say about fresh eyes??

If you would like to reach out to me via email to ask questions about being a board member, please do! You can email me directly at [email protected]. You can also contact me by phone @ 805-507-5116. If you would like to nominate someone or throw your own hat in the ring, I would love to hear from you!

My days as President are numbered. What do they call that? A lame duck? Quack! Quack!
Who is next? Will it be YOU??

I look forward to talking with you soon.

All the Best,
Jackie Baker
President

by The Scali Law Firm

The Labor Commissioner's Office recently updated its FAQs on the subject of rest breaks to provide further clarification and guidance on some nuances that employers may overlook. We already know the basics-that employers must authorize and permit non-exempt employees to take a rest break of at least net ten consecutive minutes for each four hours worked, or major fraction thereof, and that the break must, insofar as practicable, be taken in the middle
