HEALTH ALERT: Positive Case of Equine Infectious Anemia Confirmed in Alberta

A positive EIA result was confirmed by the CFIA's national reference laboratory for a horse on a premises in Strathcona County, AB. The animal was sampled by an accredited veterinarian because it was exhibiting clinical signs compatible with EIA infection.

Equestrian Canada Welcomes Richard Mongeau as Chief Executive Officer

Ottawa, ON, Feb. 16, 2018 - Equestrian Canada (EC) is thrilled to announce that Richard Mongeau has been appointed EC Chief Executive Officer, effective April 1, 2018.

"The EC Board entered the search for a new CEO with the intention of hiring for an interim position," explained Meg Krueger, EC President. "However, we were fortunate to have Richard as a candidate, bringing 30 years of experience at Cheval Québec, proven strategic and leadership success, and a history of collaboration with EC. We are very excited and enthusiastic that Richard has accepted a permanent, full-time position, and thrilled to welcome him as the next EC CEO."

Pump Up Your Levels: Available to current EC certified instructors/coaches who encourage more rider level testing in Alberta.

Individual Funding: Available to individuals attending provincial events and pursing professional or educational development.

Educational ScholarshipsAvailable to current members who are pursuing an equine-related post-secondary education and who exemplify the objectives, vision and mission of the AEF.

Bill desBarres Industry ScholarshipAvailable to current members who are entering or enrolled in Animal Health Technology at a Canadian accredited post-secondary educational institution.

Pump Up Your Levels : Available to facilities/stables to encourage growth within the National Learn to Ride programs, and who use current EC certified instructors/coaches. 
Deadline : March 29, 2018

Club Funding: Available for educational clinics/events/programs or projects related to horse wellness and horse ownership.
Deadline: April 30, 2018

Trail Supporter Funding: Available to Clubs and Businesses who have researched and planned a specific project related to the construction and/or maintenance of an equestrian trail, trailhead, or horse camping site in Alberta for public use.
Deadline: May 15, 2018

Optional Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D)

Accidents happen in a blink of an eye, and when you least expect it; horses can be unpredictable.

In addition to the 'included' $30,000 Principal Sum AD&D, you may purchase an additional $50,000 coverage that includes limited benefits for Fracture and Dental arising from equine related activities. 
Fracture - up to $7,500 (with helmet) $2,500 (no helmet); Dental - up to $5,000.
