Rep. Swalwell was first elected in 2012 to represent California’s 15th Congressional District, which includes a large part of the East Bay.

Eric serves on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence and believes protecting Americans is the most solemn duty of Congress. He is the Ranking Member on the Subcommittee on the Central Intelligence Agency, and also serves on the House Judiciary Committee.

A noted up-and-coming leader in Congress, he is co-chair of the Democratic Steering & Policy Committee which makes committee assignments and sets the caucus' policy agenda. He also chairs the Future Forum, a group of over 20 young Democratic Members focused on issues and opportunities for millennial American, including student loan debt and home ownership.
