The School (Parent) Council of Clear Water Academy will host its Annual General Meeting in the Athlone Hall Auditorium on Thursday, May 10th, 2018 at 8:45 a.m. at Coffee and Conversation. We invite and encourage all our parents to attend.

The essence of the meeting will be two-fold:
1) To summarize the activities of the Council for the academic year 2017-2018;
2) To elect new individuals to executive positions on the Council for the upcoming 2018-2019 school year.

The School (Parent) Council plays an important advisory role to the administration of the school. For the 2018-2019 school year, the following positions are open and ready to be filled:

Executive Secretary:
  • This is an elected position, to be determined at the Annual General Meeting. Please contact Mr. Forrester if you are interested in this role.
Divisional Representatives:
  • We will have openings for these roles and are looking for parents that may be interested in representing their respective divisions in the school on Council.
  • This is not an elected position. If you are interested in this position, please contact Mr. Forrester.
The time commitment to the Council is NOT onerous and the spirit of the parents on Council is cooperative with a sincere willingness to share the work. We meet once a month and the Council is having a positive impact on fulfilling the mission of the school.

On behalf of the parents on School Council, we sincerely thank you for your serious consideration to become a part of the Clear Water Academy School Council.

It's that time of year again! We are pleased to announce that the Elementary Literacy Week will take place from May 14th - 18th.

We have several fun literacy-themed activities planned for the week. One of our annual activities is for staff and students to dress up as their favourite book character. This year, we will be doing that again, but the students will have the choice to dress up as an idiom (i.e., raining cats and dogs, fit as a fiddle etc.), in jeans and a red shirt to show that they are well "read," or, as their favourite book character. The dress up day will be on Tuesday May 15th.

Additionally, if you or another family/community member are interested in volunteering to be a guest reader in your child's classroom during Literacy Week, please contact your child's teacher to set-up a time.

Finally, due to the availability of Athlone Hall, our annual Poetry Slam will not be taking place during Literacy Week, but will be on Thursday, May 31st, in the morning. Please save the date and watch for more information from your child's teacher! Happy Reading!

A parent survey went out earlier this week about the feasibility of offering busing service at CWA.  Thank you to those who have completed the survey.

If you haven't already done so and would like to complete the survey, please do so by Monday, May 7. P lease respond only if you are interested in bus service

The results of the survey will be communicated to families in the next few weeks.
