Connecting People with Purpose - Celebrating 50 Years of Volunteering

Dear

It all started with note cards in a recipe box.

This year marks Hands On Suburban Chicago's (HOSC) fiftieth birthday! Woohoo! All year we will be celebrating and we want YOU to join in the fun. We wouldn't be having a 50th birthday if not for the work and commitment of our volunteers, partner agencies, and donors.

It's given us an excuse to look back sentimentally at our growth and progress, as well as look forward excitedly to the future. So much has changed since our founding as The Volunteer Service Bureau.

Each month this year we will highlight a particular event or story about HOSC. We have a list of topics to include, but if you have some ideas, by all means send them to us! You can email Sarah just by clicking this link.

Since our start in 1969, our volunteers have donated 3.5 MILLION hours of their time.  Currently we work with more than 200 social service agencies, schools, and nonprofits, and have  made more than 206,000 referrals connecting those organizations with eager volunteers.

Our funding sources have (thankfully!) grown since those early days. We still rely on private contributions as well as corporate gifts, foundation and government grants, gifts in kind, and bequests. If you are interested in making a one-time or recurring gift each month, it is easy to set up. Just go directly to our website and click on the 'Donate' section. Your generosity is very much appreciated!

Thank you again for all of your support! We could not do this important work without YOU!

With best wishes for a wonderful 2019!
Jordan Friedman
Executive Director, HOSC

PS: Do you have a special memory or story about your experience with HOSC that you want to share? If so, we want to hear them along with your contact information! Send them to Sarah.  We may decide to include your story in one of our future newsletters!
