I started using drugs when I was 14, which sent my life through utter chaos. I have been in out of rehabs and even locked up for my chemical dependency that was controlling my life.
Here at The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center (ARC), the staff provides a safe atmosphere that I was able to benefit immensely from. I can't measure my progress by words alone. My actions, I believe, speak louder about my spiritual and emotional growth. When I received the "Beneficiary of the Month" award, I was shocked and embarrassed, but know that others also see this growth.
I started working on the clothing line, quickly moved into the kitchen, and now I work in the call center where I setup donation pickups. My supervisors have been very helpful in my work therapy. I am learning to take responsibility, have patience, and build social skills. All of these traits will help me in the future, and bring my life back into focus
I have a strong support group of love ones that are honest and encouraging. I hope to be able to reunite with my children in the future. My future is no long faithless and alone, but filled with hope and friends. I would like to say thank you to all the beneficiaries and staff at the Grand Rapids ARC.
