Dear Saint Rose Families,
It is difficult for one newsletter to adequately describe the highlights of this current week. While we always have a great deal going on, this week goes above and beyond another week, except the final week of school, in terms of activities. The week started with an all school Mass
on Mondayto kick off Teens High On Life Week. A fitting way to celebrate our faith and this week. The unexpected and added bonus was was the highlight of the week, the baptism of one of our students. Second grade student, Griffin Spafford, was baptized by Fr. George. The entire k-8 student body served as witnesses to this sacrament. We were all trilled to celebrate Griffin into our Catholic community.
This Sunday is the sacrament of First Communion for second grade. The second grade practiced this week and had a fun and faith filled retreat. The sixth grade traveled to the Field Museum in Chicago. Eighth grade had a Junior Achievement day and performed Christian Service at Sunshine Communities. The seventh grade's service was rained out, but they learned about their local ecosystem and the Maumee River with the Partners of Clean Streams. The seventh and eighth grade had guest speakers and inspirational talks.
Tonight they and their families gathered for a carb loading dinner and dodgeball game.
Tomorrow is the big race at
1 pm. Everyone in our community is invited to run or come and cheer our students on in the race.
Faith, Community and Christian Service. These are the words that best summarize this week.
Have a great weekend. I hope to see many of you at the First Communion for our Second Grade.
Sincerely,
Bryon Borgelt

6th Grade Travels to Chicago
The Saint Rose 6th grade traveled to Chicago's Field Museum for an in depth look at Ancient Egypt and Ancient China. Students had a docent led tour of the 5,000 year old tomb rooms of Unis-Ankh, the son of a pharaoh. They then toured Cyrus Tang Hall of China before exploring the museum on their own. This visit was made as part of the sixth grade course of study on ancient civilizations.

150th Time Capsule
St. Rose School is concluding the 150th Celebration by creating a school time capsule. Each class will be contributing artifacts to be contained in an aluminum time capsule made for us by Parishioner Bob Kaufman. This will be a wonderful way for our current students to connect to the students of St. Rose's future!
Parents and families are welcome to participate, also. If you would like to write a message to the future students at St. Rose, please use the link here. We will include your contributions in the time capsule.
If you have a small artifact you would like to contribute for your family, please contact Mrs. Dubois at [email protected]. All submissions must be turned in by May 21st.
The time capsule will be blessed and dedicated at our end of the year school Mass on Thursday, May 24th.
Thank you for your help in making our 150th Celebratory year special!
