$3 million gift towards Residential Hospice
Local businessman, Harold A. Roozen , made a historic announcement at this year’s Pilgrims Hospice Gala a $3 million gift toward building Edmonton’s first Residential Community Hospice Centre .

Compassion for the final journey and support for families is at the core of what Pilgrims Hospice does. We wholeheartedly support that goal and have great confidence that this new Hospice Centre can be achieved ”, said Roozen, to a standing ovation from Gala guests.

While Pilgrims Hospice programs have been a pillar of compassion for over two decades, our vision has always been to include a 24/7 residential hospice for those at the end of life, who can no longer stay at home but do not need to be in a hospital or long-term care facility.

Pilgrims Hospice Gala a Huge Success
As a sold-out event with over 350 guests, the 23 rd Annual Pilgrims Hospice Gala was a huge success! But don’t just take our word for it:

And thanks to St. Paul's Foundation (Edmonton) for funding towards new chairs and floor seats for Pilgrims Hospice, allowing us to offer end of life and bereavement care in the comfort of a home-from-home environment.
Pilgrims Hospice volunteers are appreciated all year round - but National Volunteer Week (April 15-21) is a great time to say so!

Our Day Program v olunteers work side by side with Hospice staff to provide social, emotional, recreational and physical support to adults diagnosed with a life threatening illness.

Compassionate Companions volunteers work tirelessly visiting clients in their homes, providing one-on-one companionship and compassionate care to adults diagnosed with a life threatening illness and those needing end of life care, while providing respite for caregivers. 

Expressive Arts and Grief Support volunteers are a dedicated group of individuals sharing their backgrounds in arts, social work, education and a caring heart for those who have experienced a loss due to death.They bring life experience to their roles, building relationships with children, teens & families, based on compassionate listening and insight.
 
Special Event volunteers work behind the scenes at our Gala, Hike, Golf Tournament and Sunflower Luncheon, raising essential funds so we can offer our programs and services free of charge .
 
Our Board of Directors and Committee Members share their knowledge, skills and expertise in the governance of Pilgrims Hospice
