Our 2019 Budget
This Sunday, our Treasurer, Dan George will lead us through a line-by-line discussion of the 2019 Christ Church budget. This is your opportunity to see how your pledge money is invested in the Kingdom for the coming year. You are encouraged to come and ask any questions that this presentation raises for you. This was put together by the Budget Committee and will be voted on by the Vestry at their meeting on January 21.

No Sunday School classes after the service today due to Martin Luther King, Jr. weekend. Our two younger classrooms, the Good Shepherd Atrium and True Vine Atrium, will be having class as usual from 9:30-10:10.

Silence the Violence - Film Screening & Discussion
Sunday, Feb. 10 - 4:15PM
A portion of our Prayers of the People each Sunday is the jarring part where we list the names of those shot and killed in Chicago each week. Join us for a firsthand look into the realities of gun violence in Chicago. Participants from the Family Matters' Boys-to-Men Program-young men who have been directly affected by gun violence- have made a short film called Silence the Violence. They speak to their reality and offer insights on ways to promote peace. We will watch the film in the sanctuary on Sunday, Feb. 10 at 4:15. It will be followed by a panel discussion with some of the participants in Boys-to-Men.

This event will be followed by the monthly Taizé service at 5:30PM.

3 Unique Ways You Can Help Our Rummage Ministry
  1. 95th Anniversary Task Force Team: It's a special year for us as 2019 marks a milestone for Rummage -- Year Number 95! So, we're rolling up our sleeves a little earlier than usual this year and are looking for volunteers to help us brainstorm and execute ideas designed to celebrate what's hands down, one of the best Sales on the North Shore! Please email Rummage Director, Annie Adams at rummage@christchurchwinnetka.org if you would like to be a part of the 95th Anniversary Task Force Team.
  2.
  3. Turn That Brown Upside Down: We're also adding a new Rummage capability to the mix -- furniture rehab!  Dubbed the Turn That Brown Upside Down!  initiative, the goal is to overhaul a handful of less attractive pieces and sell them for a higher markup during the Fall Sale.  Think paint, lacquer, and new hardware.  If you have a special interest in furniture, are skilled with a paint brush or wallpaper, or simple want to be a part of this new initiative, please email Annie -- rummage@christchurchwinnetka.org
  4.
  5. Rummage is expanding its Publicity Team! If you are interested in helping us spread the Good News of Rummage, don't think twice, please email Annie  --rummage@christchurchwinnetka.org

Youth Art Workshop Series: Fruit of the Holy Spirit
Only 15 years after Jesus walked the earth, Saint Paul taught one of the first Christian churches: " the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control" (Galatians 5:22-23). What is "the Spirit"? Why are these nine things its "fruit"? Are "love... patience, kindness, generosity...and self-control" still things humans want and struggle with today?

Each Sunday following worship, the youth will study, reflect on, and create artwork inspired by the fruit of the Holy Spirit. The workshop will culminate in an art gallery display on Sunday, May 12. All middle and high school youth are invited to participate. Friends and parents are always welcome!

We will meet on the following Sunday mornings from 10:45-11:30AM in the Youth Room: January 27, February 3 and 24, March 3 and 10, April 14 and 28, and May 5. Please let Megan know if you or your child would like to participate and/or be a curator.
