Good Afternoon,

I hope your holiday was enjoyable. It felt like an extended holiday break with Tuesday's snow day.

With trimester one now in the books, report cards will be emailed on December 6th showing your child’s final average for their trimester 1 courses. In order to see competency averages, you will need to login to the Parent Portal ( portal.sau73.org ) under Assignments and View Course Progress Report. If you have questions regarding your child’s grades, please contact their teacher. Students who are eligible for competency recovery (failed one competency, but passed the class) will be sent the information in the mail. Competency recovery will start in January 2019.Please reach out to our School Counseling Department as well with any questions.

There are several important updates this week so please take a moment to review them. Have a great weekend.

Sincerely,

Anthony Sperazzo
Principal
You're Invited...

to attend the staff from our three schools on Wednesday, December 5 th  , early release, in the GHS auditorium from 1:30 - 2:30 to help create a Portrait of a Learner (see example above). Part of this time will be dedicated to you taking a survey to help decide what the Portrait will be. The New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEAS&C) requires high schools to have a Portrait of a Learner, which is a statement of what we believe a student should be in order to be college, career, and life ready. Though there will be strong connections between our mission, vision, core values and the work habits that are being developed in our schools, the Vision of a Graduate will include attributes that we want our students to possess after their experience in the Gilford schools.   As parents, your input is important in helping us prepare your children for the future. Please consider attending.
Coffee and Conversation
Our school district is currently developing its Strategic Plan and would love to have your ideas and opinions about what visions you have for the future of our schools. Please join Elementary School Principal, Danielle Bolduc, on Saturday, December 1st from 9:00 to 10:00 AM for Coffee and Conversation at GES. Bring your ideas and be ready to help shape the future for your children!
You may have noticed several police officers looking at student vehicles as they left the parking lot today. This is an initiative called the Seat Belt Challenge. Members from the Gilford Police Department were checking to see if students and their passengers were wearing seatbelts and if they were using electronic devices. Data from this will give GHS our baseline. Then in collaboration with the GPD, we will provide education for our students in these areas to hopefully improve when the surprise observation occurs again in April.
Support the Volleyball team

The Gilford Volleyball Team is hosting a silent auction from 3-6 pm this Sunday (12/2) at Patrick’s Pub and Eatery. In order to raise money for our championship jackets and backpacks, 20% of your dinner bill will be donated, but you have to make sure to tell your server! Please stop by to bid on the silent auction as well.
