Dear Families and Friends of OLQP:
Most people have seen a bumper sticker with the words, "If you can read this, thank a teacher." Teaching is a noble profession. Teaching in a Catholic school is more than a profession, though. It is a ministry. Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic School is blessed with talented, generous, skilled teachers who quietly pour themselves out in service to our students and families. Each member of the staff has a beautiful story to tell about how they came to work in this vineyard. They were open to the Holy Spirit and answered the call to service. They accept sacrificial wages and long hours. They are here because they are committed to the mission and ministry of OLQP. Next week is Teacher Appreciation Week. An OLQP bumper sticker could read, " If your children are learning to be peacemakers, pray, realize their gifts and talents, be hopeful, and READ, thank their OLQP teachers!" I am happy to take this opportunity to say that it is an honor to work with such a dedicated staff. Your notes of support and appreciation will help make Teacher Appreciation Week a time of rejuvenation for our staff as they go into the home stretch of the school year.
Thank you for being part of the mission and ministry of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic School.
Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam,
Mrs. Marianne Mechura, M.Ed.

Did You Know?
Falling in love with words, appreciating their nuances, and putting them into practice help build vocabulary and comprehension. During Literacy Week, the week of May 14
th, the focus genre will be fables. On Wednesday, May 16
th, students and staff will participate in a Vocabulary Parade. Students have chosen a word and will use their imaginations (and perhaps Pinterest) to create an image that explains the meaning of the word. While students will be learning specific skills related to comprehension, the real take away is to instill a life-long love of reading! Click
here for more information on the Vocabulary Parade.
