Welcome From Lt. Patricia Williams

Hello, my name is Lieutenant Patricia Williams. I was born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri. I am single/divorced; I have one son, a beautiful daughter-in-law, and three beautiful grandchildren. I have one brother and two sisters. My family attended Baptist church services. My brother, now Captain LeOtis Brooks, introduced our family to The Salvation Army. The compassion and love shown to me during my divorce made me fall in love with The Salvation Army ministry. I began working in the community center part-time in June 2006. I became an active member of The Bellefontaine Corps in Kansas City, Missouri. I attended many retreats and camps during my employment.  The more I fellowshipped with the Army, the more I felt God tugging on my heart the plans He had for my life.

I became a soldier of my Corps November 12, 2006. I began teaching the teen Sunday school classes, and sharing other leadership roles in my Corps. I also taught a noon Bible Study every Thursday to the homeless in our community. The Lord was preparing me for ministry. I finally went to a Candidates weekend in 2012 in Chicago Illinois; it was there I answered the call to become a Salvation Army officer. I went home, told my family begin the paperwork, and I was accepted into The College for Officers Training July 23, 2013. I was commissioned June 14, 2015 in Merrillville, Indiana. I am assigned to The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center here in Grand Rapids Michigan. I am the "Women's Program Associate". I work alongside amazing officers Majors Roger & Cecilia Senn.

My life was completely unmanageable, with alcohol controlling my weekends and days. My addiction, and related events, was coming before my family and work. I was failing as a husband, a father, and life as I was struggling with my alcohol addiction.

Here at The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center (ARC), I feel that I have grown tremendously mentally, physically, and spiritually. I have worked in the food industry for almost 15 years, so it was a perfect fit to do my work therapy in the kitchen here at the ARC. I enjoy preparing healthy nutritious meals on a daily basis and giving back to others. Through the programs here at the ARC I have been learning to stay focused on growing as a person, and it is also taught me discipline.

I have truly grown in every aspect, and with everything I have and am learning, I look forward to living a clean and healthy addiction free life with my newlywed wife and beautiful kids.
