The Humboldt-Del Norte Film Commission is here to help with your production needs and our services are provided free of charge.

The Humboldt-Del Norte Film Commission is recognized by the County of Humboldt, County of Del Norte, and the California Film Commission as the official advocate for filming in Humboldt and Del Norte, California. We are also a member of the organization FLICS (Film Liaisons in California Statewide). The Film Commissioner, Cassandra Hesseltine, is currently serving her second term as the President of FLICS.

Cassandra Hesseltine became the region's Film Commissioner in fall of 2010. Prior to taking on the role of Film Commissioner, Cassandra worked in film and theater.

FREE PERMITTING?!?

The Redwood Region has over one hundred years of film history. From the first production, ' Lass of the Lumberlands' in 1916, to the recently released ' A Wrinkle in Time,' filmmakers have come to our region seeking to capture our unique beauty on film. As the local film liaison office, our job is to help productions navigate filming in a rural location. One of the things we deal with most often, like any film office, is permitting. This month, we've put together a list of our region's permitting fees to aid in planning your shoot here in the Redwood Region. We think you'll be happy with the inexpensive (or FREE!) cost for permitting and locations!

HUMBOLDT COUNTY

Permitting Fee- $65 one time application fee

Location Fee- NONE (unless using County operated parks or roads, day fee based on project)

CITY OF EUREKA

Permitting Fee- FREE

Location Fee- NONE ( $500.00 fee to film within City operated parks. Exemptions can be made for non- profit organizations, and public service announcements at the di scretion of the Parks and Recreation Department)

CITY OF ARCATA

Permitting Fee- $161.75 one time application fee

Location Fee- NONE
