Kimberly Seals Allers, BA, MS is an award-winning journalist, author of five books, international speaker, strategist and advocate for maternal and infant health. A former senior editor at ESSENCE and writer at FORTUNE magazine, Kimberly is a leading commentator on birth, breastfeeding and motherhood and the intersection of race, policy, and culture. A frequent contributor to The New York Times, and
Washington Post, Slate and others, Kimberly has over 20 years of experience as an international business journalist and Wall Street columnist which gives her a unique lens to frame communications strategy with an understanding of business and the capital markets. As the director of various on-the-ground community-based projects in several U.S. cities, Kimberly is also deeply rooted in the lived experience of mothers across the socio-economic spectrum. She brings all of these experiences to bear in her strategic advisement for clients, advocacy efforts and her vision for a world that supports mothering as valued work.
Kimberly was recently named one of “21 Leaders for the 21st Century” for 2018 by Women’s eNews for her media advocacy work. Her fifth book, The Big Let Down- How Medicine, Big Business and Feminism Undermine Breastfeeding was published by St. Martin’s Press in January 2017.
Marsha Walker, RC, IBCLC is a registered nurse and international board certified lactation consultant. She maintained a large clinical practice at a major HMO in Massachusetts, is a published author and an international speaker. Consulting with hospitals, providing in-service presentations, speaking at conferences and workshops and advocating for breastfeeding at the state and federal levels occupy her professional time. She is currently on the board of directors of the Massachusetts Lactation Consultant Association and is the Executive Director of the National Alliance for Breastfeeding Advocacy.
Naomi Bar-Yam, PhD, ACSW, has been working in maternal and child health for 30 years as an educator, researcher, advocate, and writer. She is the immediate past president of the Human Milk Banking Association of North America (HMBANA) and the founding director of Mothers’ Milk Bank Northeast, which provides safe donor milk to hospitals and families throughout the northeastern US. Her early experience as a social worker and perinatal educator in diverse populations, both in the US and overseas, inspired her special interest in the ethics of access to perinatal health care. That work, and her experience as the mother of two NICU babies, motivated her support for breastfeeding and milk banking. She is now a recognized expert on social and institutional policies that support breastfeeding. As Executive Director of a large milk bank, she is also thoroughly versed in the technical, procedural, and ethical aspects of milk banking.

MORE IMPORTANT CONFERENCE INFORMATION
MEALS: Lunch and continental breakfast are included in the full registration fee. Lunch buffet will include hot roast turkey, salad bar, specialty side salads, soup, breads, dessert, and more. We are sorry but we are unable to accommodate special dietary requests.
ACCOMMODATIONS: Rooms have been reserved at the Holiday Inn at special conference rates. Single/Double: $105; Triple $115; Quad.: $125. Reservations must be made by March 3 (EXTENDED!) to receive the Conference rate. Contact the hotel at: 1-978-263-8701 and mention NMC.
SCHOLARSHIPS: We have a small amount of funds available for partial scholarships. Please contact us for an application.
NURSING ROOM: A room will be available for those who need a quiet place to pump, nurse or change a diaper. Quiet, breastfed babies in arms may remain with their mothers in the meeting rooms.
EXHIBITS: Many exhibits of interest to lactation professionals and others will be available.
BOOK SIGNING: Kimberly will be signing copies of her latest book, The Big Letdown, which will be available
for sale.
CONFERENCE SYLLABUS: The syllabus will be available in electronic format approximately one week before the conference. This will allow time for those who prefer a paper copy to print one out to bring. Instructions for downloading will be emailed to each registrant, so be sure we have an email address that is checked regularly.
*DEADLINES AND REFUNDS: REFUND POLICY: Registration fee will be refunded in full if you notify the Registrar by March 4. A partial refund (conference fee minus $50) will be given if you contact the registrar at bacenmc@gmail.com by March 25. No refunds of any amount will be given after March 25.
