Snow makeup days and other calendar dates
Due to the snow day on Monday, Jan. 14, the District calendar has been revised. 

Students will attend school on Feb. 19, March 25, and April 22 to make up for the snow days on Nov. 26, Nov. 27, and Jan. 14. 

The last day of school is an early release on May 22. Any additional make-up days will be added to the end of the school year.

Other calendar dates:

Jan. 21Ray-Pec schools are not in session on Monday, Jan. 21, in observance of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday.

Jan. 26A group of district employees and students are participating in the Polar Plunge, by "plunging" into Longview Lake on Jan. 26 to raise money for Special Olympics! To support our team: Donate

Jan. 28 - Deadline to nominate a student in grades 1-7 for evaluation to participate in the LEAP gifted program
Four candidates to vie for two School Board seats
Election Day is April 2
Four people have filed to be candidates in the April 2 School Board election: 
  • Susan Edmonsond
  • Joyce Noah
  • Bill Lowe
  • Aaron Howlett
There are two (2) positions available with three-year terms. Board members whose terms expire in 2019 are Susan Edmonsond and Bill Lowe.
High School Course Planning Night is Jan. 29

Students entering grades 9-12 and their parents are invited to attend High School Course Planning Night from 5 to 8 p.m. Jan. 29 to  learn about courses being offered and begin the enrollment process for 2019-2020. 

There will be break-out sessions on several topics and a Freshman Transition meeting for parents of incoming freshmen. Counselors will complete the enrollment process with the students Feb. 4-8. Watch for an email from the high school with more information about Course Planning Night.

Students may apply to attend three off-site programs: Cass Career Center, Summit Tech Academy, and Southland CAPS Students interested in these off-site programs should stop by the 10-12 counseling office for information.  Applications must be submitted by Feb. 8.

Students may also sign up to attend presentations at the high school about the off-site programs:
  • Summit Technology Academy - 1 p.m. Jan. 22
  • Cass Career Center - 2 p.m. Jan. 23
  • Southland CAPS - 2 p.m. Jan. 24
All three programs will also be represented at Course Planning Night from 5 to 8 p.m. Jan. 29.
