For new and aspiring artists, the Artist Enrichment Workshop will help educate artists on necessary components of the music industry. Learn what you need to know about live performances, the business behind the music, protecting your instrument, how to get your music played and more from a panel of music industry experts and artists. The evening will include a Q&A session and time for networking with peers and panelists.

The City of Chicago 2019 Special Event Permit Application and Resource Guide are now available at chicagoneighborhoodfestivals.us. All are invited to a workshop with DCASE's External Events Team and other City Departments to learn more about the permitting process for neighborhood festivals, music festivals and athletic events taking place in Chicago in 2019.

Celebrate the start of the Year of Chicago Theatre! This free-admission, building-wide celebration invites everyone - from the curious to seasoned theatre-goers - for an inspiring and surprising look at the "fearless soul" of our city - Chicago's theatre community. Participating artists and theatre companies including The Second City, Walkabout Theater Company, Free Street Theater, Chicago Youth TheatreFest, Chicago Children's Choir and many others will present interactive performances, live music, youth project showcases and more. The event is held in conjunction with the 7th annual Chicago Theatre Week, taking place February 7-17. Join DCASE and Chicago Food Policy Action Council to connect with food workers, farmers, vendors and local leaders to discuss food policy and critical issues involving climate change, labor, food access, urban farming and the economics of food production in Chicago, Cook County and Illinois. This event is a culmination of recent efforts and accomplishments in food justice including Cook County's adoption of the Good Food Purchasing Policy, and an opportunity for us to collectively imagine how the food system can support health and equity for all. The day will consist of workshops, speakers, hand-on activities, food demos, a marketplace of resources and vendors and a food business clinic.

Application Deadline is February 20
The summertime tradition, Taste of Chicago is now inviting members of Chicago's culinary scene to apply as 5-day participants, 1 or 2-day pop-up participants or as food trucks at the 2019 festival in Grant Park this July 10-14. All Chicago-based restaurants, shared kitchens and food trucks that offer traditional, unique and ethnically diverse menu items are encouraged to apply. This year's CityArts program will include opportunities to apply for general operating grants across all artistic disciplines, as well as project grants in alignment with the City of Chicago's Year of Chicago Theatre. Project grants will support initiatives that have the potential to impact the Chicago theatre sector at large. All applicants are encouraged to attend an application assistance workshop. The Neighborhood Opportunity Fund (NOF) generates revenue from downtown developments to finance cultural projects that strengthen commercial corridors on the South, Southwest and West Sides. Grants support property owners and tenants who provide cultural experiences by providing funding for storefront build-out, façade repair, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, new construction, roofing repairs, etc. Please visit NeighborhoodOpportunityFund.com for more information. Applications accepted on a rolling basis
The DCASE ArtsSpace Program offers access to space at DCASE venues for free public programs organized by Chicago's cultural organizations. Applications for programs at the Chicago Cultural Center are reviewed on a rolling basis and must be submitted at least 120 days prior to the event date. Selected organizations will have their venue rental fee waived, but will incur operational costs for their programs. For more information and the application, visit chicagoculturalgrants.org.
