Hey Student Families,

Just a couple weeks ago we celebrated Milestone 4: Purity for Life. A strong number of our students have made a decision to live a life of purity. Also, this past week I got the opportunity to teach health class here at Carmel Christian. I was asked to share with about cultural lies about intimacy, modesty, dating, and personal viewing behaviors and actions.

As I have reflected I am reminded that the reality is that all of us are facing difficult times in fighting the enemy in what is placed in front of us every day. So what can you do to fight for purity.

Monitoring apps are great tools and I have a couple links to some tools below. However they are not enough. It is critical to have open and honest conversations as a family. So here are some key tips that I have found successful over the years with families.
  • Talk about purity. Ignoring it will never help!
  • Create high expectations with grace
    • Set standards
    • Far too often students are scared to tell their stories because of fear.
    • Establish freedom of sharing sin
  • Read together as parents and students
    • Every Young Man's Battle
    • Every Young Woman's Battle
  • Accountability
    • Don't go it alone. We have groups specifically men starting up right now. For more information let me know. There are also groups for our young women as well.
  • Take 1 Small Victory Step at a Time
    • Don't forget to celebrate the wins.
