Next week, we have the pleasure of offering our annual Winter Concert.
This event, one of two
instrumental and choral concerts our school puts on each year, is a
wonderful opportunity for the whole community to see the magic of our curriculum in action. It's also a beautiful testament to the creative work of our talented music faculty, Giorgi Khokhobashvili and Ali LaVanway, who work
incredibly hard to develop the musical ability of our students each week, while also instilling in them a love for music, and lessons on the importance of perseverance. Not only that, but making music together also, according to a recent study outlined in a great

What are we about?
Our Board works to assure that we provide a quality service: that the policies and procedures that guide the work of the administration of our School meet all fiscal and legal requirements, as well as those set by our accrediting bodies (AWSNA, WECAN); that our operating budget is sound; that the Administration is effective; and that there is a strategic plan that guides our entire school in working collaboratively to carry out its mission. Our Board does not usually involve itself in specific academic matters or individual student or employee concerns; its primary responsibilities are fiscal, legal and strategic. To carry out these responsibilities, the Board of Trustees participates in and oversees the work of several Committees, and holds regular, public meetings monthly.
Did you know you can attend a Board meeting?
Regular Board meetings are public, and take place once a month on Thursday nights. If you are interested in what the Board is doing, you are welcome to come to a Board meeting as a non-participating attendee. (When confidential matters must be discussed, the Board holds executive sessions, which are not public.)

New Parent-Child Session
Starts This Month!
|
|
Please join us for our Parent-Child Program for 3-4 year olds.
The Sunflowers Program is held fully outdoors and designed to help children deepen feelings of confidence; build capacities for learning; develop new communication and problem-solving skills, and strengthen emotional well-being.
Our Day:
- Gather and play
- Morning circle time: singing, movement, finger games and verse
- Nature, crafting, and/or a campus walk, or more play if that is what the day is asking of us
- Snack time (We will supply delicious homemade snack, please let the teacher know of any allergies when registering) and meal clean-up
- Nursery rhyme/nature inspired story and a goodbye song
For younger children (19-36 months), our
Daffodils Program offers interactive play, singing, finger games, story time, snack and craft activities. Parents and children work on projects that rotate between gardening, baking, painting, toy making/craft.
Breathe deep and enjoy parenting support, imaginative play, laughs, and warm meals while you share good conversation with like-minded parents.

CSWS Community Invited to Attend Screening of New Documentary on Teen Anxiety
|
|
Sacramento Waldorf School will host a special screening of a new documentary that explores anxiety, its causes and effects, and what parents and educators can do about it. This 55-minute film shows candid interviews with real teens about anxiety and tools that help and provide hope. Anxiety disorders are the most common mental health challenge in the U.S. While anxiety disorders are highly treatable, only one-third of those suffering receive treatment. This film is appropriate for students from Fifth Grade and up and features World Champion Swimmer Michael Phelps!

Our school is much in need of an
early childhood extended care assistant
. We are
seeking a warm, responsible individual to help supervise this program. Experience with young children and knowledge of Waldorf pedagogy is preferred, but not required. The extended care position hours are Monday through Friday, 12 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. To meet state licensing requirements, applicants must have 12 ECE units, and be willing to comply with current CPR and First Aid training, clear a Livescan background check, a TB test, and a health screening and comply with current California vaccination requirements.

The College of Teachers is seeking individuals who can act as
substitute teachers. With our pedagogical chair position now vacant, we no longer have a go-to for when our teachers are ill or need to be away for the day for personal or family needs. With the cold and flu season approaching, the College would like to begin compiling a list of people, especially those with a teaching credential or experience working with children, who can support our faculty in this way.
