The weekly "CNY Conversation," published on Syracuse.com, features Question & Answer style interviews about leadership, success and innovation. Stan Linhorst profiles leaders in the community, and three of the most recent conversations spotlight leaders in Downtown Syracuse.

The most recent edition, posted earlier this week, profiles Troy Evans, owner of 16th Avenue Inc. and pictured here. One of Evans' most well known projects is Commonspace, located at 201 East Jefferson Street, home to 21 apartments and co-working space. Right now, there are plans to expand, bringing additional apartments and co-working space to neighboring buildings along South Warren Street.

Adam Fine, co-founder of Dropcopter - which is based in the Tech Garden - also shared advice recently. Fine moved to Syracuse to participate in the second round of the GENIUS NY program. Dropcopter, which uses unmanned aerial systems (drones) to pollinate orchards, won $250,000 in the competition. Fine originally went to culinary school and became interested in drone technology after a motorcycle accident propelled him to take a different career direction. Fun Fact: Dropcopter was originally proposed as a business to deliver food and beverages on golf courses.

Ed Riley, who sits on the Board of Directors for the Downtown Committee, is one of the partners in the Hotel Syracuse Restoration LLC. Riley is credited as the "driving force" behind the historic renovation of the Hotel Syracuse as the Marriott Syracuse Downtown. Having spent much of his career in the hotel and resort business, Riley has a track record of leading efforts to restore old hotels. He is quick to credit all partners for their contributions.
