Professional Movie Extras Paul & Randa Silva

Paul and Randa Silva join us on FILMCAST to share some great stories about their experiences working as extras on Film and TV productions in the New Mexico industry. What started as a lark by Randa (who eventually coerced her husband Paul into joining) has turned into roles on more productions they can count in the state. Clearly these folks enjoy their retired lifestyle, traveling the country in their RV and working as extras. If you’ve been wondering what the Extras Experience was like, listen to Paul and Randa and see if it sounds like something you would like to do.

NBC's Three Wishes, Believe in Me (2006), Hell or High Water (2016)

How can you help filmmakers that come to your area?

I can assist them with all of their needs from locations and permitting to hotels and contacts within the community to help make their project run smoothly.

What do you consider to be a unique location in your jurisdiction?

The Norman Petty Studio where notable greats recorded many of their early hits like Buddy Holly, Roy Orbison, Waylon Jennings and many others. The studio still looks like it did in the 50s.

The Clovis/Curry County area has been long known for open spaces and immense skies. The flatness of the terrain is ideal for the large areas of farmland from the golden fields of wheat to the rows of sorghum and corn. The historic downtown Clovis area is reminiscent of days past with many of the buildings built in the early 1900's and grain elevators and windmills rising up from the horizon.

Favorite New Mexico filmed movie or tv show?

My favorite has to be Hell or High Water.
