Dear Majestic Owner-

You may have heard or seen reports of Red Tide along Panama City Beach. As you can see by the picture below, taken today at Majestic Beach Resort, the waters appear to be clear. However, t he safety of our owners and guests is of utmost importance. We are closely monitoring the reports of red tide infiltrating our beaches. We advise guests to use caution when on the beach, especially those who already suffer from respiratory issues. We will keep you informed on any further developments regarding this unfortunate natural occurrence.

Ride Tide is a phenomenon caused by algal blooms during which algae become so numerous that they discolor coastal waters (hence the name " red tide "). The algal bloom may also deplete oxygen in the waters and/or release toxins. Health officials say beachgoers may experience a tickle in their throat or a harsh cough. Anyone that has respiratory issues such as asthma or COPD, should avoid the beach when Red Tide is present. While doctors say there is no specific treatment for red tide supportive care measures, such as Benadryl, can help alleviate some of the symptoms.

Sincerely,

Paul Shamblin,
