SAINTS PETER & PAUL CATHOLIC SCHOOL
JEFF AND HOLLY DALTON
TO RECEIVE
IN NOMINE MEO AWARD

Advancement Board president, Willard Hemsworth, announced that Jeff and Holly Dalton have been chosen as the recipients of this year's In Nomine Meo Award. They will be recognized for their many contributions to Saints Peter and Paul School at the all school 8:00 a.m. Mass on Monday, May 14.

The criteria for the award is that both a husband and wife were very engaged in volunteering at the school during the years their children were students. Jeff and Holly are the parents of four alumni - Josie '09, Brian '11, Kevin '13, and Tim '15 and are the thirteenth school family to receive this honor.

With three boys who were student-athletes, it was not surprising that Jeff devoted a lot of his time to our athletic program. He was extremely active with both the basketball and football teams. He served as defensive coordinator for our Jr. Varsity and Varsity football teams and enjoyed a stint as head coach at both levels as well.

Jeff also spent four winters coaching our seventh and eighth grade basketball teams as either head coach or assistant for both our A and B teams. He was also a 3 time chaperone for the seventh grade Timberlee trip and also volunteered for various Fun Fair, Auction, and Flower Sale assignments.

An avid runner like her husband, Holly also contributed to our sports program as head coach of both our Jr. Varsity and Varsity track teams from 2006-2008. She also lent her talents to other areas, specifically serving two terms on the School Board. During that six year span she was elected Secretary four times.

While on the Board, Holly was also the chair of our marketing committee when the Joliet Diocese began encouraging schools to begin addressing the enrollment needs of schools in the wake of a declining national birth rate. Along with fellow school parent, Noelle Gollinger, the two did yeoman work to position SSPP as the pre-eminent choice for Naperville families seeking a Catholic education for their children.

Among the accomplishments on their watch were the re-branding of our parish and school logo; creating and mailing Baptism and Birthday cards to newborns and pre-school age children; developing our first-ever line of spirit wear;writing newsworthy items for the parish bulletin and pulpit announcements; holding marketing in-service presentations for faculty and staff; and developing a Catholic Schools Week marketing blitz including Shadow Days, Student Led Masses on Sunday, Pre-School Story Time, and parent led school tours for prospective families.

She and Noelle expanded our presence on social media and also brought non-school families into our school by scheduling presentations on student stress and pressure through the showing of the video Race to Nowhere. In addition, their speaker series brought in Naperville police detective Rich Wistocki, who is renowned throughout DuPage County for his Cyber Safety presentations.

"Holly and Noelle did an unbelievable job," observed former principal Frank Glowaty. "Unfortunately, they literally burned themselves out through their tireless efforts." On the recommendation of Holly, the School Board realized that, as successful as she and Noelle were, school leaders would have to budget for hiring a marketing director in order to sustain the momentum which was created.

ANNUAL FUND DRIVE

Our 3 Days of Giving, in conjunction with the
Bring Troji Home
campaign was a critical and financial success.

Thank you to the 62 school families who made their Annual Fund Drive last week bringing the total of parent gifts this year
to 96 or 36% of our
school families.

Those 96 gifts will provide funding for additional teacher compensation and increase stability amongst our faculty.

We are still hoping that all families will support this initiative before the drive ends on June 30.

SPORTS TRIVIA NIGHT

Our 2nd annual Sports Trivia Night is scheduled for Father's Day weekend.

Teams will match wits at 7:00 pm. on Friday,
June 15, in our
air conditioned gym.

Cost is $100 per person or $500 for a team with a maximum of 8.

The winning team gets their choice of a 4-some at our Golf Outing   or a table at next year's Auction.

SSPP Trivia
When our school was founded in 1853....

...families didn't get excited about the Kentucky Derby as that race was first run on May 17 in 1875 in front of a crowd of 10,000 spectators. It wasn't until 1883  when the name "Churchill Downs" is first used to landmark the racetrack that is the home of the Kentucky Derby.
