TASSAMarch Highlights of TASSA'18 Conference 

TASSA '2018 took place on June 2-3, 2018 in Boston, MA at the Boston University, and was a great success thanks to the more than 270 attendees and countless volunteers. As the TASSA team emerging from the post-conference recovery period, we want to share a special issue that summarizes the highlights. 

 
TASSAMarch TASSA'18 Young-Scholar Award

I n 2014, TASSA launched a very successful Young-Scholar Award(YSA) program that aims to recognize and honor the achievements of young Turkish American scientists and scholars. Since the beginning of this program, approximately 25 awards were given, covering a broad spectrum of fields and early career stages, including junior faculty, postdoctoral scholars and graduate students, all under the age of 35.
At the last TASSA meeting in Boston, TASSA announced two new awards for the first time, namely the Aziz Sancar and Kenan Sahin awards, to strengthen TASSA's commitment to this exciting Young-Scholar Award Program.

During TASSA 2018 Conference, the President of TASSA, Haluk Ünal, honored six TASSA members with the TASSA President's Service Awards. We congratulate all of our awardees and appreciate all their efforts for TASSA. 
      

Euraxess   TASSA Held Elections for the Four Board Directors
     


TASSA TASSA held elections for four Board Member positions on September 30, 2018. The elected members are:
 

TASSANews1   TASSA Reorganizes Its Executive Committee
     
TASSA Executive Committee (EC), which is responsible for managing the day-to-day activities of TASSA, has been reorganized. Per TASSA Bylaws, The Executive Committee includes the President, one or more Vice Presidents, the Managing Director, the Treasurer, and the Editor of the Bridge.     
 
TURKISH SCIENCE DIASPORA NEWSDiaspora

The 2018 EASD-Novo Nordisk Foundation Diabetes Prize for Excellence has been awarded to Gokhan Hotamisligil, J.S. Simmons Professor of Genetics and Metabolism and chair of the Department of Genetics and Complex Diseases at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.The award is given annually to an internationally recognized researcher who has contributed significantly to diabetes research.

Prof. Dr. Pinar Menguc Honored by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)

M. Pinar Mengüç, head of the Mechanical Engineering Department and the director of the Center for Energy, Environment, and Economy (CEEE) at Ozyegin University in Istanbul, will be honored by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME).

Setting the price for a product or service is an ancient practice; even bartering was a form of pricing. On the other hand, data-driven pricing, or Revenue Management (RM), is a relatively new field, initially pioneered in the 1980's.  I have been lucky to have been a part of its journey since the mid-1990's.
