FEATURED WINES
Staff Picks : Chill & Grill
Doug's Pick:
2015 Andrea Felici Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi
I recently made it a personal mission to become more familiar with the Italian white grape varietals grown beyond the Northern reaches of the country. It's been a fascinating journey as I'm exploring Vermentino, Verdicchio, the varied expressions of Trebbiano etc. This particular Verdicchio was incredibly intersting with an almost green-almond-piney characteristic, deep citrus bordering on zesty lime and grapefruit, and bright fresh acidity. A super pretty wine and one that I'll likely revisit multiple times throughout the Summer. -$18.99
Patti's Pick:
2016 Kentia Albarino
Are you ready for the patio? Thinking about some grilled fish or shrimp tacos this weekend? Grab a bottle of Kentia Albarino and your favorite lawn chair. This wine has the backyard vibe in spades. Round on the palate with a crisp finish. This wine has it all - citrus, herbs, and white flowers with a kiss of stonefruit. Chill it and enjoy. -$14.99
Madison's Pick:
2016 Cardedu 'Praja' Monica, Sardinia
This wine pairs well with a bucket of ice, hot weather, and anything fresh off the grill. This is the type of red wine that works perfectly with a good chill down - its light, dry, and earthy with a bit of red fruit. Cardedu's vineyards are in the remote southeast corner of Sardegna - the Loi family focuses on native Sardinian varietals and can certainly meet the definition of a "natural" producer, although they think of themselves more as simple traditionalists instead. -$23.99
Dave's Pick:
2012 Paitin 'Ca Veja' Nebbiolo D' Alba
Spring aromas abound in this classic style Nebbiolo. The extracted, oaky style preferred by some producers certainly has its merit but this wine sports the full spectrum of complexity: sappy forest notes, orange zest and fine tannin. Also if your a die hard chewy bold red fan this is a perfect transition to warmer weather. The pale color and bright acidity make it deceptively light on its feet, the pedigree and complexity make it sure to please any wine geeks you may know. -$27.99
