Houmas House at the Golden Globes!

Last Fall Houmas House was the set for several scenes in the movie Green Book.  Set in the 1960's, the movie is about an out-of-work bouncer accepting the job of driving an African American classical pianist for his concert tour through the Deep South states.  Initially, the pair can barely get along with their clashing attitudes of life and ideals.  However, as their journey progresses both see a very different perspective of life in the Southern states and gain tremendous respect for one another, ultimately developing a close friendship.

This film was nominated for 5 awards at the 2019 Golden Globes and walked away with 3 wins-  Best Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy; Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in Any Motion Picture; Best Screenplay in a Motion Picture.

This year marks the 76th year of the awards ceremony and has approximately 19 million viewers annually.

What's on Your Bucket List for   2019?

I am excited to start a new year! With 2019 comes new and exciting reasons to visit Houmas House.  A new steamboat museum is underway, the restaurants have new menus, the gardens have been expanded, and new artifacts have been added to the collection inside the mansion.

Traveling to Louisiana should be added to your bucket list this year. The culture, the food and the genuine hospitality can be enjoyed in every corner of this state.  I have been fortunate to meet our guests from across the United States and even the world and it's the highlight of my days.

So, here's to a prosperous and happy new year and a warm welcome to visit this historic estate and gardens.  I hope to see you soon!

Love,
Princess Maggie
