MAYOR'S MESSAGE
It’s easy for people to appreciate life at the Jersey Shore during the summer months because playing in the sunshine and frolicking in the surf are popular activities that appeal to all age groups. Many folks also look forward to the slower pace of the spring and fall seasons, which feature great sunsets and milder temperatures. However, when it comes to the winter months, people often shun the idea of being at the shore. In fact, one of the most common questions we tend to hear is “what do you do during the winter in Sea Isle City?” As it turns out, the answer to that question is a simple one: “Plenty!”

CITY COUNCIL'S MESSAGE
At the start of the January 8 City Council meeting, Liz Barrett, from South Jersey Quilts of Valor, presented a handmade quilt to Sea Isle City resident Ronald Delorefice. Mr. Delorefice is a Vietnam War veteran, who received a Purple Heart, a Bronze Star and a Combat Infantry Badge while serving in the U.S. Army’s 25 th Infantry during 1967 and 1968. The members of City Council were honored to be in attendance while this latest Quilt of Valor was presented to one of our residents, and we thank Mr. Delorefice for his service to our nation.

"What's Smoking in New Jersey"
Educational Program is Open to the Public

Sea Isle City’s Municipal Alliance, Mayor Desiderio, the Sea Isle City Police Department and the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office will present a marijuana and vaping awareness event titled “What’s Smoking in New Jersey” on Friday, February 8, from 12 noon to 1:30 p.m. inside Sea Isle City’s former public school, 4501 Park Road. During this interactive presentation, Criminal Justice Professor Douglas S. Collier, M.A., from Monmouth University (a retired Drug Enforcement Agency Special Agent and Spokesperson), will update audience members on the realities of substance abuse and its impact on the community. As the title indicates, the focus of this event will be to highlight the dangers of marijuana as well as the growing popularity of vaping tobacco products. This free seminar is open to the public. Grandparents and parents of children of all ages are strongly urged to experience this important and informative event. A complimentary luncheon will be served to all those in attendance. For additional information, please phone Sea Isle City Municipal Alliance Coordinator Kellie Seib 609-263-4461, ext.1222.

And, if you don’t answer your phone when they call, they will send an officer to knock on your door – just to make sure you’re doing well. To learn how to register for the SICPD’s Citizen Call-Check Program, please phone the SICPD Records Department Monday thru Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., at (609) 263-4311 ext. 2223 or ext. 2246.
