Join Service Ministry this Year!

Meeting days have changed

One of the most active groups in our parish is Service Ministry. An amazing group of guys and gals who are focused on outreach. They meet once a month, now on the third Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. in Clare's Cottage (919 C Avenue) - January 15 this month! All are welcome to participate. So if you're looking to meet new folks and work together on exciting and worthwhile projects, come join the team - just in time to help with the Spaghetti Dinner!

2018 Statements

Your annual statement for donations made in 2018 will be available for pickup this Sunday, January 20; look for the table in the courtyard. If you'd rather have yours emailed or snail mailed, just let Christie Tugend know; and she'll get it right out to you.

If you are making donations in 2019 via Realm, make sure to update your account with your 2019 pledge information! If you are not using Realm, our church management system, this is the year to get started. We hope to hold a workshop soon to help everyone register. Stay tuned for more info....

Thank you to everyone who noticed the typo in the Spaghetti Dinner evite - and RSVP'd anyway!

Yes, the dinner is on Monday, but it's January 28 not 29. There will be t wo seatings - 5:30 and 6:15 p.m.

Here is the link so you can reply right here ...and don't wait, it's always a "sell-out" crowd. Remember, if you cannot make it and you would like to support the Neighborhood Food Pantry you can:

bring donations of non-perishable food to church on Sundays or to the parish office during the week;
make a monetary donation via the RSVP link to help St. Mark's purchase food from Feeding America and the San Diego Food Bank.

Praying the Collects

The new year begins with a new forum series, Praying the Collects in the Book of Common Prayer (BCP). This Epiphany we are going to use the 9:00 a.m. forum time to more deeply explore the contents of the BCP.

Prayer is an essential way by which we are shaped into the very life God who sends us out to do the work He has given us to do. Come and take a closer walk with God; we hope you'll join us.

Don't miss this opportunity to visit the campus and find out more about our exceptional day school, Saturday, January 26 from 9:00 a.m. to noon .

Thank you to everyone who volunteered to place a CCDS Open House sign in their yard. You are helping spread the word about Christ Church Day School and the phenomenal education for the whole child that takes place here each and every week. Acolyte Training
Are you interested?


	Acolyte training January 27

Acolytes serve a very important role in the worship service. Have you ever wondered exactly what their duties are or thought you might like to participate? If so, consider coming to the Acolyte Training session scheduled for Sunday, January 27 at 11:15 a.m. in the church. Acolytes can be youngsters or adults; anyone from fourth grade or older is invited to come. So even if you just want to see what it's all about, drop in and check it out.

Service for Christian Unity

Annual event at Christ Church

Each year the Coronado Council of Churches holds a Service of Prayer for Christian Unity. This year Christ Church will host the event on Sunday, January 27 at 6:00 p.m. The service will feature The Rt. Rev. Katharine Jefferts Schori as speaker, Michael Morgan as soloist and Geoffrey Graham at the organ. There will be a small reception following the service.

Annual Meeting

Joining God at work in the world

There will be one service at 9:00 a.m., Sunday, February 24, followed by the annual meeting and a festive brunch. This is your chance to learn about Christ Church's plans for 2019 and to reflect on the accomplishments on 2018. Vestry and Diocesan Convention delegates will also be elected at the annual parish meeting.

Icon Workshop Retreat

Windows into Heaven

Teresa Harrison returns to Christ Church to offer our annual icon retreat February 18-22. Space is limited to 16 participants, and as always, no previous icon writing experience is necessary. The cost is $435 which includes all supplies, snacks, and a lunch daily. Please email Teresa directly to sign up [email protected].

Blessings in a Bag

Sunday, January 20


	Pack a bag, or two and keep them in your car.

We'll be packing Blessings in a Bag this Sunday, and we have rain ponchos and beanies to include. With the cold, rainy weather these additional items should be doubly appreciated by those who receive your offering.

Thank you to the Service Ministry folks who continue make this project possible. Make sure to stop by the tables and pack a bag or two to keep in your car to hand out to those in need you might encounter during your day.

Food Collection - St. Mark's

Neighborhood Food Pantry

While we gear up for the big food collection at this month's Spaghetti Supper, we don't want to forget the pantry these next few weeks. The basic non-perishable items they can use are soup/stews, cereal and oatmeal, granola bars, peanut butter, pasta and sauce, rice, canned protein, canned vegetables and fruit, and single serve items for their unhoused visitors. Bring your contributions on Sundays or to the parish office Monday-Thursday.

Hello, My Name Is...

Name badges


	Name badges - wear 'em if you have 'em

We haven't ordered name badges in a while; apologies to those who have had orders in for some time. We will place a new order January 28, and the name badges will be available Family First Sunday, February 3. Badges are $10 each and are not reserved for adults. If you have children who attend, they might like to have their own. Simply fill out an order form at the Welcome Center this Sunday or next.

What's Your Resolution?

Embarking on a new you in the new year?

"I'm going to be more fit...less stressed...more focused., but, "I'm uncomfortable at a gym...I'm on a budget...I don't have lots of extra time!" We all have excuses when it comes to looking out for ourselves, but yoga at Christ Church may be the answer. Exercise in a comfortable setting with your peeps; all levels are welcome. Class, with instructor Rebecca Nagorski, meets on Tuesday evenings in Hinde Hall from 5:00-6:00 p.m.; and a donation of only $5 is requested. Bring yourself in comfortable clothes and a yoga mat - we even have mats you can borrow. Give it a try, you're bound to like it!
