Join us for a fun, French-inspired event in support of Phong La for Alameda County tax assessor!
Phong La has been instrumental over the years in bringing town hall debates for city council and school board elections to Hayward. He co-founded and was a instructor for a leadership program at CSUEB (Hayward), organized a small business workshop and forum at Chabot College and brought in CA State Controller John Chiang, and has contributed to Hayward in numerous other ways.

Join us for an artist reception in my downtown Hayward office's art gallery on Wednesday May 9th from 5:30-7 p.m.

Visit to see Hayward Arts Council members Shannon Jurich and Evelyn Call's original work this month from May 7th, 2018 weekdays between 10 a.m.-5 p.m. CLICK HERE to RSVP

SantaCon Hayward dog "Clifford" is available for adoption!  Clifford is a big gentle guy who I had the privilege of meeting and hanging out with at a recent Hayward Animal Shelter adoption event. His adoption is FREE to a qualified home. Look at that FACE!

If we didn't already have two 50-lb. pit bulls at home, Clifford would surely find a place with us!

Make sure to mark your calendar for Saturday December 1st, 2018 for the 7th Annual SantaCon Hayward 2018!    CLICK HERE for more info.

Stretching in Hayward, California

This year, I decided to try new things and really put myself out there, so I started taking belly dance classes at the Hayward Senior Center. We've been rehearsing for a performance on Friday June 1st.

If you'd like to find a way to stretch yourself too, join us for belly dance classes on (most) Thursday nights at the Hayward Senior Center from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Each class is only $8 for the drop in rate, with a discount if you pay for several classes in advance.

Next class: Thursday May 10th. Hope to see you, ladies!

Over the years, I've had the pleasure of working alongside Barbara Halliday in a number of different ways. First as a fellow Leadership Hayward classmate in 2000-2001, then we served on the Hayward City Council together, then took part in her 2014 re-election campaign.

Barbara is a passionate supporter of Hayward and our people. I believe she's in public service for all the right reasons and I appreciate her service.

Student Siblings Highlight:

Meet Mathew and Ireland! They are siblings who've been able to enjoy attending Mt. Eden High School at the same time. They both like the diversity and culture and
love the variety of programs offered at Mt. Eden.

According to their mom Brandi who is an active parent, they like that they can rely on each other, share friends, and challenge each other even though they are free to do their own thing. As a family, they have volunteered to assist with choir, dance, sports, and helping various teachers. Matt graduates this year but the family will remain supportive as Ireland goes on to finish high school...

If you're interested in contributing to the Mt. Eden High School Alumni Association, please reply to this e-mail or visit the website at
www.MtEdenAlumni.org for more information about the programs the alumni association supports at any given time. Thank you for your interest!
