CASC Grants
The first cycle deadline for student grants is this Friday, January 18th. If you are seeking funding for opportunities, programs, or projects as a part of your student org, complete the online grant form. Apply here


CASC Community Art Installation
In order to inspire engagement, reflection, and and community, a group of CASC minor students and staff are organizing to create an art piece that reflects the expeirences of students in the minor. As a part of the creation of an art piece, we need your feedback. Take five minutes to share your expierence in the minor, what "CASC" means to you, and what your thoughts on a dynamic piece to add to the space, by completing the google doc below.  We value your support, contribution, and feedback!

Preferred Admissions
Declared CASC students are eligible to apply to the MSW preferred admissions program.To learn more, read below or contact the Office of Student Services at (734) 936-0961 to schedule a phone or in-person appointment.  Preferred Admissions. Additionally,  Prospective applicants are required to complete an  info form, prior to submitting a preferred admissions application. 
CASC Classes

Senior Audit
Please fill out your senior audit as soon as possible. If you have any questions, please schedule an appointment or visit drop-in to speak with CASC Academic Advisor Joe Galura.

Course Enrollment Petitions:  Students must submit a petition found on the CASC website to enroll in SW 300, 305 (section 1 & 2), and SW 401. If there are any questions or concerns, please email   cascminor@umich.edu .

CASC-MSW Preferred Admissions Program
Students pursuing a Community Action and Social Change (CASC) minor may apply to the Office of Student Services (OSS)  in the School of Social Work for the Preferred Admission Program leading to a Master of Social Work (MSW) as early as their junior year.  For admissions criteria and additional information, visit the preferred admissions  website.

Opportunities for CASC students to apply for funding for their student organizations are now available. The deadline to apply is Friday, January 18th.

CASC Info Session:
Interested in learning more about the Community Action and Social Change minor? Join an info session to learn more about the CASC community, requirements for the minor, course offerings, the msw preferred admissions program, and other opportunities to get involved in programs and events. Each session is held in the School of Social Work Building, Room 3661 (on the third floor).

Join us a for a panel discussion with CASC Minor alumni. Panelists will share their stories and journey engaging in social justice and change work. Learn more about their academic career as undergraduate students, experience in the minor, and the challenges, and lessons learned about applications of social justice "in the real world". Senior Brinner
Join the CASC Minor Senior Celebration Brinner (Breakfast For Dinner)! Graduating seniors will participate in community building and networking activities, get information about graduation and graduation tickets, and celebrate your journey as a CASC Minor student. Participating students will also have an opportunity to record a statement about their experience in the minor, which will be featured at the CASC Minor graduation ceremony, May 3rd. Join us for an opportunity to connect with others and celebrate! RSVP.

Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. 2019 Symposium Keynote 
Throughout the entire month of January, the MLK Symposium provides the community with over 40 opportunities to participate in lectures, live performances, exhibits, workshops and community service projects sponsored by academic and non-academic units, student and staff organizations and community groups. This year's keynote features two speakers, Tim Wise, author and scholar, and Julia Putnam, Detroit principal and writer. Learn more.

The National LGBTQ Task Force sponsors and organizes the Creating Change Conference, the foremost political, leadership and skills-building conference for LGBTQ+ individuals and allies. Juliana Huxtable: Live Performance 
The University of Michigan School of Social Work is pleased to present Juliana Huxtable live in performance for the 2019 Martin Luther King Symposium. James Boggs at 100: A Legacy and Lineage of Radical Social Change in Detroit

Health Equity High School Summit
Taking place on Saturday, February 23rd at the U-M School of Public Health from 9 am to 4 pm, the summit's mission is to introduce high school students to the discipline of public health and health disparities. As a Small Group Facilitator, your role will consist of working with a small group (~6) of high school students for the entire duration of the summit.

Program Assistants: English Language Institute (ELI)

ndergraduate students for paid consulting positions in a GSI teacher preparation course during the Winter 2019 semester for students who speak English as an additional language. Undergraduate consultants participate in practice office hours and teaching sessions, as they would for a regular class and give feedback to  prospective GSIs on the quality of their instruction. Development Summer Internship Program (D-SIP)
D-SIP) provides you with a 12-week engaging summer experience comprised of a meaningful work project in philanthropy, academic coursework, and valuable professional development experiences. Through these 3 components, you will build a professional network of colleagues and establish lasting friendships with a cohort of interns hailing from a variety of schools and colleges on the U-M campuses. Deadline is January 19.

Youth Volunteer Corp Program 
The YVC of the Ann Arbor Y is part of an international network of programs that offers teens (ages 11-17) the opportunity to improve their world through volunteering. YVC mobilizes diverse groups of youth volunteers from across the community to engage in meaningful service-learning projects through collaboration with local non-profit agencies. The YVC of the Ann Arbor Y is a youth-driven volunteer program for young community activist who are interested in leading social change through challenging, rewarding and educational service learning projects. YVC is dedicated to serving the needs of the community and promoting a lifelong ethic of volunteerism and social justice.  Learn more here

UM Summer Enrichment Program (SEP)
SEP is an 8-week summer internship program for undergraduate students committed to eliminating racial, ethnic and socioeconomic health disparities. SEP has been placing students in health care organizations in Southeast Michigan. Deadline is January 25. Learn more and apply.

CRCC Asia 2019 Inclusion Initiative Scholarship
CRCC Asia, an international internship program that places students in internships in China, Japan, Vietnam and the UK, has announced five scholarships as part of their 2019 Inclusion Initiative to help students achieve internships abroad. Learn more and apply

CEW+: Student Emergency Fund 
CEW+ workS to break down barriers and increase access through funding. For U-M students, staff, faculty, and surrounding community, they offer opportunities for scholarships, emergency grants, sponsorships, fellowships, and more for a range of situations and life circumstances. Learn more.

TEDxUofM: Award for Innovation 
Every year, TEDxUofM awards an annual prize of $1000 to an individual or group in the University of Michigan community. The TEDxUofM Award for Innovation celebrates putting imaginative and ingenious ideas into impactful action. Application opens December 10. Deadline is January 18.  Learn more and apply.

The American Indian Foundation (AIF) Clinton Fellowship 
AIF's Clinton Fellowship is an immersive volunteer service program training and placing young professionals to support development organizations in India. Through service and fieldwork, Fellows learn about inclusive leadership in the fields of education, livelihoods, and public health. Fellows support grassroots organizations at a crucial moment of scalability through capacity building and skill sharing. Deadline is January 31. Learn more and apply

Fullbright UK Summer Institutes 
UK Summer Institutes are three-to-four week programs for US undergraduate students. Participants can explore the culture, heritage and history of the UK while experiencing higher education at a UK university. Deadline is February 6. Learn more and apply.

International Institute Student Fellowships (IISF)
I SSF  are designed to support University of Michigan students, regardless of citizenship, who are enrolled in a degree program and wish to participate in internships or conduct research abroad. Deadline is February 15. Learn more and apply. 

Luce Scholars Program 2019-2020
Boren Fellowship
Boren Fellowship are awarded to graduate students for the purpose of overseas language study, academic study, research (either Master's or Ph.D. level), an academic internship, or any combination of the above. In addition, Boren Fellowships can provide limited funding for domestic language study that will supplement the overseas component. Deadline is January 30. Learn more and apply
