Adult Ed
begins January 24, at 7 pm in the Education Wing. We will be using Bishop Curry's invitation to grow more deeply with Jesus Christ at the center of our lives, so we can bear witness to His way of love in and for the world. We will be following The Way of Love: Practices for Jesus-Centered Life, resources that outline a Rule for the Episcopal branch of the Jesus Movement. Please join us each Thursday through February 28th.
Preschool Open House -
January 17 and 18 9:30 to 11:30 am. Can't make it to the open house? Call to schedule a visit 301-593-2308.
Pizza and Games! Plan a break from the holiday let-down with a pizza and games party this Sunday, January 20 after the 10:30 am service.
Office and Preschool closed Monday January 21.
Saint Luke Food Pantry
- We are learning that food insecurity can be only one paycheck away as the partial government shutdown goes on and on. We know that many furloughed employees are expected to show and have the energy to work with no income coming in to take care of their immediate needs, such as food. We have also learned that federal contract workers do not even have the hope that they will eventually get paid. Many in the wider community are offering assistance. We have learned that there is an increased need for the staples that are distributed by Saint Luke Food Pantry, which we support. Let us, as we can, commit ourselves to be even more generous in our contribution of nutritious staples. Let's fill the cabinets at the back of the sanctuary to overflowing. As residents of an area where there are many government workers and government contract workers, let us also pray for a speedy resolution.
Pledging info for 2019
-- Thank you to everyone who has pledged and made a financial commitment for 2019. Good Shepherd has received 68 individual/family pledges in the amount of $267,887.00. Would you like to make bill pay/automatic payments? Pick up a form from the desk in the Narthex. And remember, it is never too late to pledge. Pledge cards can be found on the desk in the Narthex and may be placed in the offering plate.
Boxes of envelopes for cash contributions
are available on the ushers' desk in the narthex for those wishing to use them.
A New Way to Contribute to Good Shepherd -
Good Shepherd has recently opened a brokerage account with TD Ameritrade, an online broker. This means that parishioners who wish to donate stock, bonds, or mutual fund shares to the church have an easy way to do so. If investments are held in a brokerage account, your broker can transfer them to Good Shepherd's TD account, for which Lynn Hutcheson has the account number. If you have paper shares that you wish to donate, you can take them to one of TD's offices to begin the procedure. If you have questions, please direct them either to Lynn or to Kirk Franklin.

John Eliot has informed us that a Memorial Service for his wife, Sylvia Eliot will be held on Saturday, March 2 at 11 am in Montgomery Hall, at Riderwood in Silver Spring.
Annual Meeting February 17 - One service at 9:30 am. Potluck contributions for lunch after service.
Reports from Committee chairs are due to the office (Word documents only) no later than Tuesday, February 12 for inclusion in the printed Annual Report.
