The Meaning of Repentance and the Beloved Community
Reflection:
We live in a complicated world that tends to divide people into camps. How will we love one another if we are unwilling to stop, listen, open our hearts and minds to allow God to change us? Being the Beloved Community is all about changing minds and hearts so that we can love each other better. When people are homeless, we may think it is a political problem to be solved by someone else. But Christians are called to show the world how to live in the beloved community by watching out for each other. Read Ezekiel 18:30-32 and 1 John 3:11-24 to prepare yourself to hear a new word about a cure for what ails our world and our souls. Come prepared to worship God who loves deeply and leave uplifted and filled with hope.
For the Children and the Adults in Their Lives:
In the Bible, the people Jesus chose to follow him are called "disciples." They learned his ways so they could live them out and teach others. In a way, they were his "team." He chose them because he loved them and believed they could do great things. It's the same with all people: Jesus loves all and believes we can do great things. We can all be on this team! Who has Jesus put in your life whom believes in you? What great things are you capable of? What great things go better with people on your team?
