May Demo Night
Sherry Shoenfeldt
Monday, May 21st 7:00-9:00pm
Oklahoma Contemporary

Join us for refreshments, socializing, and a demo by artist Sherry Shoenfeldt There will also be time at the end to share, so bring something you've been working on or information about your upcoming event.

Sherry's personal journey to becoming an artist began at a very young age. Around kindergarten she began sketching and designing clothes, and at age twelve, she took her first charcoal class. A few years later she began working in oils. She took art classes in high school and college and spent as much time as she could creating.
While pursuing a career as an accountant, she continued to create whenever she could, selling jewelry, purses, and altered clothing at small, local craft fairs. Later she discovered mixed-media and assemblage, experimenting with papers, paint, ink, and Plexiglas. She soon sold her first commissioned piece and realized she wanted to pursue her passion as her livelihood!  She began the transition from law firm controller in North Dallas to artist in Oklahoma City.
Sherry has participated in a number of local shows, both juried and member. She's also shared her love of beeswax collage at classes at a local art-stamp store and discovered how invigorating teaching is! As her art journey progresses, she hopes to branch beyond local shows and teaching venues and to learn more about how others see the world and to share her love of art with them.
Sherry truly believes that EVERYONE is born with a creative impulse. She cannot imagine her life without art or without sharing it with others. For Sherry there is nothing like the give and take between creative people, both fulfilling and inspiring.

Art Crawl Opportunity

Oklahoma Art Guild is planning to sponsor an "Art Crawl" involving tours of studios around the Oklahoma City metropolitan area this October. Ideally we would have 10-12 studios involved where artists could have items for sale, do demos, show works in progress, or any other art activity. The purpose is to showcase our members and their work. If you have a studio and an interest in participating, please contact Maureen Harvey at  [email protected] .
