To learn more about how Florida's new opioid law (HB21) will affect your practice, download the CCMS 1-pg resource flyer for quick reference, the FMA's summary for a deeper dive, and the law itself for the most in-depth review.

Major changes from the law, which takes effect July 1st, include the 3-day limit on acute pain Schedule II opioid prescriptions (with some exceptions), documentation for chronic pain scripts, and PDMP reporting requirements. Another one of the new law's mandates is that every DEA-licensed physician in the state must complete the required opioid CME course by January 31, 2019 (and again for each subsequent license renewal).
