Dear Fellow Servants of Jesus Christ,
One of the most exciting aspects of our ministry together has been our short-term mission projects. Once again, we will be offering a short-term mission trip to Belize with the goal of conducting Vacation Bible School in two villages and possibly some Bible studies for women. The dates are July 29 - August 5 and the cost per person is $1,650.
The first informational meeting will be held in the church library at 4:00 pm on Sunday, February 3. If you are interested in being a part of our team and/or have questions regarding the trip, please contact Eve Barker at
[email protected]
.
Here are 7 -- a good biblical number! -- reasons for participating in this trip or any short-term mission experience:
1. Getting a glimpse of the challenges of mission work.
It is one thing to read about what our mission partners do, but it is quite another to experience it for yourself.
2. Encouraging our mission partners.
Your willingness to come alongside our mission partners by being physically part of their work is a true encouragement to them, as well as the believers working with them.
3. Learning about the struggles of Christians in different cultures.
Most of us lead comfortable lives, while most of the world struggles to survive day-by-day. The faith of the Christians who literally trust God for their daily bread is impressive and inspiring.
4. Being taken out of your comfort zone.
It is remarkable how God uses our being taken out of our comfort zone to help us identify areas in our lives that need to be addressed and placed under the lordship of Jesus Christ.
5. Serving others.
You will have concrete opportunities to serve others perhaps in ways you never have before.
6. Sharing your faith.
Our short-term mission trips give people an occasion to share their faith in Jesus Christ in both word and action. A number of people on our trips discovered that they have grown in their ability to share their faith with others.
7. Glorifying God.
People come away from these trips often tired and exhausted yet praising God for the work He has done through them and in them. Lives have been changed, including their own.
Please keep our Belize team in your prayers! And please consider being part of the trip!
In Christ's love,
Pastor Jim

Winter/Spring Sermon Series - John:
What gospel is unlike the 3 others, has Jesus telling us "I am,"is filled with symbolism, possesses the most metaphors for Jesus, loves to talk about love and is written for people like us who have not seen Jesus? The answer, of course, is the Gospel of John. For many John's gospel is the first book of the Bible they have read and contains the first passage of Scripture that they have memorized - John 3:16. During our Sunday morning sermons, we will be studying together this remarkable book as we enter the new year and journey through Lent and Easter. This study will deepen our understanding of God's love for us and our call to love others thereby equipping us to be more faithful followers of Christ. This will be a wonderful series to invite a friend to attend!
