Parsha Talk
Businesses have occasionally hired computer hackers to test the security of their own systems. Under the watchful eye of a business, the hacker might find security loopholes and then teach the business how to close them. But consider a different case, where the hacker has--on his own--broken into the computer system of a particular business and stolen money. But then, feeling guilty, he wants to donate this money to his local shul. Should that money be accepted?!

STEAM Lab on Wheels
With the start of the second week at RMBA, the STEAM Lab on wheels has emerged! We have had a wonderful time learning about each other and how to keep ourselves and others safe, while also exploring our favorite STEAM subjects through art and play. We have also talked about the upcoming Holiday, Rosh Hashanah. We explored Rosh Hashanah shapes, colors, and sizes of apples, while learning where they come from. We also learned how honeybees make honey in their hive! It was a wonderful week! Check out some more pictures here. Shana Tova!

Twin Lenses
The Greenbaum sisters, Adva and Hila, proved that they have the talents and skills to have successful careers in photography. Students in the middle school Photography Explo were challenged to document a journey they took on foot. The Greenbaums chose to explore the Greenwillow subdivision and its environs. In doing so, they created photographs that exhibited composition guidelines that they studied in class, such as the rule of thirds, leading lines, repeating patterns, juxtaposition, and symmetry.

Forgiveness
The conversation continued from last week in Mrs. Traxler's class for their unit on The Ethics of Forgiveness. Students were asked through google forms to post their opinion about forgiveness on a story from the Gemara. This week, they supported their opinions and continued the discussion through Torah Texts on Granting Forgiveness and Understanding Forgiveness. Ideas such as "how can Jewish law expect one to forgo his feelings" were debated and discussed.

Class Interviews
In Mr. Duke's 7th grade Social Studies class, students were paired up in Google Meet Breakout Rooms. They interviewed each other about the impact of COVID-19 on their lives, on the lives of their families, on their communities, and on the people and landscapes of Texas. In addition to discussing negative effects, the students were also challenged to consider some silver linings that they've discovered while surviving this pandemic.
