AGC MA LAUNCHES BUILDING RESPECT CAMPAIGN

As part of its 2016 strategic plan, AGC MA has been committed to tackle the obstacles of workforce development and diversity within the industry, and although great strides have been taken, the expansion and retention of a diverse work-staff for our member companies and their staff continues to be a critical challenge.

Led by the AGC MA Diversity & Inclusion and BWiC Committees and funded by the Massachusetts Construction Advancement Program (MCAP), the campaign will provide AGC members tools, information and collateral to help build and maintain a workforce culture that is equitable and safe for everyone.

The committees will begin meeting in February to finalize all aspects of the campaign.

AGC MA LEGISLATIVE & PUBLIC AFFAIRS UPDATE
AGC MA Advocacy with State Awarding Authorities

On January 10, AGC MA met with DCAMM Staff to set the agenda for upcoming meeting topics with AGC's Chapter 149A Task Force. Present were new AGC TF Co-Chairs, Jon Rich and James Apodaca and AGC MA Staff. The first meeting of 2019 with DCAMM with the larger Chapter 149A Task Force is expected in early February.

Topics raised that will further discussed in more detail were DCAMM's new Certification Fee Changes; Procurement Updates; Treatment of Change Orders; How Change Orders Impact the Project Close-Out Process; SDI Alternatives; and the new Pay App. In addition, DCAMM will be explaining new adjustments to the CM selection process. AGC MA is still waiting for the results of the new regulations that will accompany the DCAMM Affirmative Marketing Action Plan.

The mission of the AGC MA Chapter 149A Task Force is to establish dialogue with state agencies on how their respective processes, procedures and contracts impact CM at Risk and to achieve consensus on 'best practices', on which awarding authorities and CM's can rely on public sector CMR projects. The Task Force also reviews Chapter 149 delivery procedures as well. Recent meetings with Awarding Authorities have focused on evolving CM at Risk pre-qualification, procurement, project administration, contract issues and trends.
