If you are new to VRBC, you are invited to a Newcomers Reception in your
honor this Sunday! At this informal 30-minute gathering after the worship service,
you'll have the opportunity to get to know some of our church staff,
as well as to meet others who are new to the church. We promise you will
receive great hospitality and food, PLUS you'll have a chance to win some cool prizes.
No
RSVP is required to attend--just come!
Children of all ages are also welcome
, so please pick up your children after the worship service and bring them
with you to the reception held on the east side of the church lobby.

GROWTH SEMINAR: "EXPLORING A POWERFUL CATALYST FOR CHANGE"

One of our Life Measures at VRBC is to "
imitate Jesus by letting him renovate our character." Sound daunting? Is it really even possible? What is our part in the process? What is God's? Join us for our next Growth Seminar where we will explore a simple spiritual habit that can become a true catalyst for transformation.
This
FREE seminar will be offered at 9:30 and 11:00 am on Sunday, May 20, in the Seminar Room at the east end of the church lobby. You can attend either worship service that morning and still be a part of this growth experience.

In recent years, our culture's view of the church has radically changed. At one time, the word "church" brought to mind thoughts like
love,
kindness, and
generosity. But today, unfortunately, too often the word "church" brings up thoughts like
judgmental,
hypocritical, and
irrelevant.
During the month of May, we're going to explore a portion of the most famous sermon in history: The Sermon on the Mount. We'll apply Jesus' radical teaching on how to live as members of his family to the way we live as the church. Join us each Sunday in May at 9:30 or 11:00 am as we dream together about
The Church the World Needs to See.

You know what they say--life's a circus! You'll be amazed as the parable that Jesus told about the loving father and two sons comes to life for your kids as never before in our very own Cool Choir Club's presentation of
The Prodigal Clown.

EMILY BELL SCHOLARSHIP GOLF TOURNAMENT
SUNDAY, JUNE 3 | REGISTRATION NOW OPEN!
It's that time again! Coinciding with Tiger's return to the Masters, the VRBC Golf Tournament, benefiting the Emily Bell Scholarship Fund, will return on Sunday, June 3, to Riverchase Golf Club in Coppell
with a 2:00 pm shotgun start.
A grilled burger buffet will immediately follow the tournament. Prizes will be awarded for low gross and low net, and raffle tickets will be available for purchase on site. Cost is $90 per player and includes golf, range balls, and dinner.
The Emily Bell Scholarship Golf Tournament raises funds to award college scholarships to deserving VRBC high school seniors. Over the years, tens of thousands of dollars in scholarships have been awarded, and your participation in the golf tournament will allow us to continue to provide scholarships into the future.

MISSIONARY SPOTLIGHT: LINLEY AND HAYDEN
Hayden and Linley are serving in Greece with a college student ministry. As Greece faces economic crisis, there are few places to turn for hope. Many students are unhappy with the Greek Orthodox Church because they believe it is outdated, and church and God are the same thing to them. Hayden and Linley are seeking to teach students how to study the Bible for themselves so these students can then spread that to their friends, family, and beyond.

CELEBRATING A GREAT SPRING SEMESTER!
This week marks the end of our spring Grow Group session, and we are celebrating a fantastic semester! Every week this spring, we had almost 400 adults (8% more than last spring) dig into God's Word, build true friendships, and train for our mission together. The stories we heard were outstanding!
We've seen people grow to look more like Jesus in their everyday lives, support one another through tough times, pray together (and some learning to pray for the first time), and grow in their passion for inviting others to follow Jesus together with them.
If you were a part of a group this spring, thank you! If you weren't, don't worry . . . your chance is coming soon! Registration for summer Groups Groups begins May 13. Be on the lookout for more information in the coming weeks.
