Date Added for Student Materials Pick Up: Monday, September 21
For families who were not able to attend our student materials pick up day this past week, note that we have added an additional day and time:

Monday, September 21, 4pm-6pm

When arriving to Hamilton, please enter the main driveway entrance to Hamilton on Waukesha Street, pull up to the designated pick up area, and have a piece of paper displayed in your vehicle's window with your child’s name and grade on it. We will then bring out a bag of items to put in your trunk. Please have your trunk open. If walking or biking, please come to the main entrance wearing a mask and we will have someone get the name and grade of your child, and then get their materials.

For families without a means to get to Hamilton for materials pick up at any time, we will arrange for delivery.
Reverse Parade Success!
Thank you to all our wonderful Hamilton staff and families who were able to participate in last week's Reverse Parade. As a staff, we all felt there was something missing in our first week of the 2020-2021 school year--the students! It was wonderful to see real live students in person to close out our week. Thank you!

Note that these newsletters almost always end with a section called, "Photo Finish" where photos of our students, staff, families, and community are featured. This week's focus is the Reverse Parade!
Asynchronous Attendance: Why do I keep getting absence calls?
Wednesdays are completely asynchronous days, and at times your child may be attending other classes during the week asynchronously if they were unable to make it to the live instruction. When it comes to marking students present or absent for asynchronous classes, teachers check to see if students have completed their assigned work and/or check in for the class as the first and best way to determine attendance. If for some reason a student was not able to access the asynchronous class to submit the work or check-in, they can also email the teacher. We strongly encourage all students to complete work necessary for being conunter as in attendance by 4pm each day as that is when teachers take attendance. That said, your child has until 11:59pm that same day to demonstrate their attendance. However, know that if work is submitted between 4pm and midnight that you will likely get an automated phone call saying that your child was not in attendance for the class. If your child shows their attendance after being marked absent but prior to midnight, then their attendance will be updated and corrected the next day to show that they were indeed present. Whew! It took a lot of words to explain that!
Neighborhood Food Sites
The Madison Metro School District is offering curbside meal service at 40 school sites, for all children 18 years of age or younger. Each site has pickup one day per week for family convenience (including one day each week at Hamilton). Students will receive a market food box with all the components for 5 balanced breakfast and lunch meals that meet the requirements for the National School Lunch & Breakfast Programs. See the below link for more information including a schedule for pick up sites.
