UHC WELCOMES NEW BOARD MEMBER LORANE AVALOS



UHC is proud to welcome Lorane Avalos to the Board of Directors. Lorane was born and raised in Reedley, CA and graduated from Reedley High School. She  has been married for 47 years, has 4 children and 6 grandsons.

Lorane attended Fresno City College, where she received her certificate in Vocational Nursing and was licensed in 1982. She worked at nursing homes, at the Selma Hospital and briefly in industrial health. During the last 12 years of her career, she worked for Selma Dialysis.

Lorane is now retired and is a former President of the Selma Lion's Club and the Selma Catholic Women's Club.  "I'm looking forward to making sure the continuity of care is there for patients." 


UHC WELCOMES SARAH GUERRA AS A NEW MEMBER TO THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS


UHC is proud to announce the addition of Sarah Guerra to the Board of Directors. Sarah was born in Fowler, CA and raised in Selma, CA. She graduated from Selma High School and attended Reedley College while working for Fowler Packing.

Sarah credits education and hard work for the advances in her career and developing the necessary skill set to become a community business owner. She and her brother-in-law launched Robertson-Guerra Insurance Agency in Selma, where it has been recognized through various awards by community organizations and businesses.

Sarah is married, has three children and is an active parishioner at St. Joseph's Catholic Church.
"I bring my passion in helping individuals to the UHC Board of Directors, especially the less fortunate. I like to always intervene and help in any way I can."


TACHI PALACE DONATES ITS COMMUNITY BREAKFAST PROCEEDS TO 
THE UHC FOUNDATION

On January 26 th , more than 500 people, including UHC staff, attended the Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino's monthly Community Breakfast.

Tachi Palace matched every admission paid and donated all proceeds to the UHC Foundation. A commemorative check for $5,168 was presented by Catherine  Montoya , Tachi Palace Representative to Pedro Santana, the Foundation Economic Development Manager, who thanked Tachi Palace on behalf of the UHC Foundation.

The UHC Foundation is  grateful  for the continued support received from businesses and organizations throughout the Central Valley.




KERMAN MIGRANT CENTER THANKS UHC STAFF

On January 24 th , UHC staff from the Kerman Health Center were presented with a Certificate of Appreciation by the Kerman Migrant Center, which is part of the Community Action Partnership of San Luis Obispo County, Inc. The recognition, which was presented along with children's artwork, highlighted the support received by UHC staff. UHC is proud of its continued partnership with organizations that greatly help our communities.





 

UHC SUPPORTS FARMWORKER APPRECIATION DAY IN MENDOTA

More than 300 community members were given information in Spanish about the services and programs available at UHC during the 15 th  Annual Farmworker Appreciation Day on January 26 th The event, hosted by the California Employment Development Department, took place at the Gonzalez Hall and Promotions in Mendota. The event included community and employment resources, career and training information, agricultural rights and safety information, as well as, raffles and prizes.
